They look good. Got a little night driving in with them and I like the beam pattern better than the Nineos I had in there. They need a little adjusting when I get a chance, I’ll get some photos posted later on.

Also got my Hefty gas tank skid on today, ran out of time for the other skids. Didn’t grab a photo of the skid but will get around to it.

They look good. Will they pass VA inspection? I’ve looked at similar ones in the past, but must’ve been other brands because I remember the page saying “for off-road use only” which I knew was code for “won’t pass inspection.”

That's the question. If they're not stamped DOT then a stiff inspector will fail it.

Where did you order from ?

I got mine from redline360. There’s other sites that sell as well if you Google them, I think they’re all about the same price. I think protuninglab.com has free shipping.

That’s a lot more affordable than I would’ve guessed. I wonder why it’s only through 2012 though…. I guess either Nissan changed something or that company just hasn’t verified an install on a newer one.

In the photos I see several loose wires. To what do those connect?

Mounted my traction boards and shovel today. I wanted to keep them as low as possible so mounted direct to the cross bars. Drilled a few holes and put in nut serts. I’ll only mount them when going off road and I didn’t want rods for the traction boards up there all the time so I designed some removable pins. I left the shovel quick fists up there for now. If they make noise while driving they are removable too. No plugs for the nut serts yet, if I get water in the bars maybe I’ll come up with something.

Update on these Spec D lights. The sealant on the harness melted and they were going out intermittently. I put the stock ones back on and will return the Spec Ds.

Last major project done, new tires. Don’t believe these are a widely known brand but have good reviews. Milestar Patagonias were not widespread when I put them on my first rig either.

I saw them on a neighbor’s truck and liked the look. These are AT tires but also have the M+S marking on them, no huge mud lugs though. I also chose them for their three peak snow rating. They are stud ready as well. Decided to stick with 265 rather than bumping to 285 to keep the weight down. Not much gain in clearance, 3/4 inch, but they look good.

I’m contemplating spacers now. Was on a ride with @ffxcores and the spacers he added look real good.

Added parts yesterday. Got the PRG rear shackles on set at the middle hole, 2” coil spacers on front, dropped the rear sway bar, and added 1.5” wheel spacers. Gained 1.75” lift in back and 1.5” in front.

Have a couple must do’s now:

1. Extended sway bar links for the front.

2. Melt mod, having slight wheel rub at full lock now with the wheel spacers.

Have some questions for the group:

1. Alignment wise, it rides dead straight. Doesn’t feel like one is needed. But I lifted and spaced out the wheels so must need one, yes? What specs should I use? Stock specs with 3” of lift now won’t work right?

2. Alignment / melt mod question. With the SPC ball joints, can I just change the “star” spacer to move the wheel forward instead of melting?

3. Rear shocks. I have Rancho 9000XL, 22.28 inch full extension length. What shocks out there are longer and would give me more travel?

At least for #2, I moved mine forward one notch to bring it into spec. Still had to do melt mod for the spacers though. It really is incredibly easy. Anytime you’re nearby I have a heat gun.

You need to start a trip thread to post pictures and keep us updated!

Good thought, will do. Hope to hook up with a club or something over there.

And please be careful. That's not the safest area of the world at the moment.

Thank you, so far so good there at the moment.

Is it being shipped in a container or RORO?

They took it up to Baltimore and will put it in a 20ft container then onto a ship. Fingers crossed that they take good care of it.

Friends, don’t know why, but this assignment away from the kiddos is rough. Missing them tons.

I’ve been sent to Iraq and Pakistan where family is not allowed. For some reason that didn’t bother me.

But, here in Moldova it’s not easy. Kids are coming to visit for Christmas and I’ve been counting the days for a couple weeks now.

I’m in a nice place for once and should be enjoying it but alone without them is not going well. I’m seriously waiting for Christmas like a kid waiting for Santa.

I feel you. Being away from the family is tough. Spent 20 years in the army and if anything it got harder as I got older. But, Christmas is right around the corner!

ARGHHH! I just had to FaceTime with my kids and X and make the decision to put one of our dogs to sleep. The first pet they have ever lost.

He was off the past few days with a cough and moving slowly in the morning. I mean, he’s 10, an old man for a dog. I move slow in the AM too. But when the day warmed up, so did he.

Today, my daughter comes home from school. He jumps in her lap then immediately starts going downhill. Ironically he had a vet appointment today.

Daughter and X head to the appointment and he falls down walking in. They FaceTime me during the appointment and his left side clearly doesn’t work. Ear is flopped when normally pointed, paws are curled in, and can barely keep his eyes open, he can’t stand.

We discuss with the doc and suddenly he starts drooling uncontrollably. Doc says we should get a neurological consult and steps out to research where. He loses bowel function 10 mins afterwards and his tongue is hanging out, zero control.

I tell X, go get son now, we need to say goodbye. Literally takes 10 mins to get him and dog is ready by then.

Vet did an amazing job of making him comfortable immediately and then helping him pass on comfortably. We got to say goodbye. His best friend/brother dog got to say goodbye.

How he deteriorated so fast is unreal. Not being there for my kids is devastating. My daughter is so upset and angry that I’m away.

ARGHHH! I just want to break stuff!

Thanks all. Rough night but feeling better. Kids will need some time but know it was the right choice and we all made the decision together.

Diagnosis time. I’m leaking something, but don’t know what. Not a great picture, it’s been raining for days here. Lots of road grime.

Do CVs leak from the diff? The axle shaft is wet, and oil is leaking down onto the LCA. Nothing above the axle shaft is wet. Not a leak in the brake line, checked with someone pumping the brakes and reservoir has not moved.

It’s been leaking since it was delivered a couple weeks ago. Power steering fluid is fine, and coolant too as well as engine oil level.

The fluid on the floor is clean oil, really looked like brake fluid to me. Is it front diff oil? Can that leak out and down the axle? I haven’t opened the fill plug to check it yet.

If that’s the leak, can I drive it just not using 4wd?

The inside boot looks dry and seals like that sling oil around so check where the cv goes into the front diff.

If it's low, you don't want to drive it. The front axle spins all the time, not just in 4wd, so it needs to stay lubricated.

Wipe everything down with a clean cloth and watch to see what gets wet first.

I bet the shippers put a strap around the lower arm and CV and tightened it down. Definitely check your time window to make a claim and look for any rub or wear marks to document before you wipe everything clean.

And the strap over the CV maybe pulled it out of the diff so it’s not seated properly? Would that cause fluid to leak from the diff? I’m just confused because when you change a CV, nothing leaks, diff fluid doesn’t run out when you pull the CV.

Stupid question, the shock tube has fluid yes? Do those leak?

I’ll wipe it down and watch, probably open the diff fill plug just to check as well.

Ok, not the diff. Dropped the engine skid and opened the fill plug, fluid started to seep out as I was opening it.

Also, can now confirm the color and consistency does not match diff fluid.

The fluid is yellow, and not very thick, consistency and color of coolant. But there is nothing leaking from any coolant location that is dripping to the shock area.

It seems concentrated on the shock tube and spring, shock hydraulic fluid? Is that yellow?

I wiped it all down and will go check in a couple hours to see what happens.
