Possibly soon to be an Xterra owner?

Hi,

I'm looking for advice on if I should pick up a used 2015 Xterra Pro-4X. I've looked at the exterior briefly and it looks clean. Inside through the windows seems to look clean too. I'm currently leasing a 2017 JKU Rubicon and that's up in March next year and would like to see if the dealership would buy out my Jeep. Because of the crazy prices on used cars my buyout is way under what my JK is currently priced at. Even with that unless I lease again I can't afford anything new, which brings me to this 2015 Xterra Pro-4X. It's an automatic with 88k miles listed at $25k. I'm guessing that's probably, but what isn't right now. I've compared it to others within a 500 mile range on Autotrader and it seems to be priced well compared to todays prices. Used Wranglers are way over that and so are 4Runners. It's primarily going to be a daily driver, but I'd like to do some off roading with it eventually.

Do you think it's worth paying the crazy market prices currently on a used Xterra?

Thanks

Josh

Well , we're all here because we like our X's and will be pretty biased about it !! Everything is over priced in the market right now and it'll probably stay that way for a while. What you need to do is take that X for a good test drive and decide for yourself is this what you want to be your daily ?

This will be my daily driver, but currently with covid I still work from home. When we go back I'll only be in the office 3 days a week. Plus driving a Wrangler I'm used to bad mpg. I'm going to try and test drive it this weekend. Just have to convince my girlfriend it's a smart buy .

2015 top tier model - all the kinks were worked out that could be at that point, should easily make it to 300k plus miles with proper maintenance. ;)

The Xterra drives better than a Wrangler thanks to its IFS and rack-and-pinion steering.

The 4.0L is also more powerful and I much prefer the Xterra's 5 speed auto to the Wrangler's 6 speed auto. It's nice to just stick it in 3 or 4 around town and not constantly have to deal with it trying to get into higher gears but also not having to continually upshift manually like the Wrangler's "manual" mode.

On top of those, the Xterra is roomier inside and you don't have the roll bars to constantly try to avoid on the interior.

The downside is that the Xterra will never, with factory style suspension, achieve the kinds of wheel travel numbers the Wrangler is capable of in stock form. But if you're not doing extreme crawling, I've never found the Xterra to be lacking in capability offroad.

This is the way.

I wheel pretty regularly with a jeep, and not once have I ever had problems going where the jeep does (bald tires issues not withstanding).

Mind you, this is in a first Gen with no locker, and 3 1in tires.

We've started taking my 2013 Frontier Pro-4x as well, and it's even better offroad due to the rear locker. The IFS in the Nissan will be better on road than the jeep can ever hope to be, and still do just fine off road in everything but the hardest of trails, which can be overcome with good spotting and wheel placement.
