Anyone know how vehicle insurance is affected by an accident?

I had a fender bender in the X a cpl months ago and was at fault. There was more dmg to the other vehicle but not bad, 1mph. I have full coverage.

They want to know if I want to claim dmg and have my fender fixed.

Will my insurance go up wether I claim or not?

There's lots of variables there. Have you had any claims in the recent years? Is your insurance company shiat? Something simple claimed against your comprehensive shouldn't affect your monthly under normal circumstances.

Nothing on my record, Progressive ins for 15yrs, two vehicles. But.. at 1mph the guy has a personal injury lawyer now. I have full coverage on the X but plan to drop it to just liability on next 6mo renew, next month.. I'm actually looking at adding another vehicle to make 3 with liability.

If my ins will go up if I don't claim my dmg, I don't want to drive around with a dented fender or maybe just pocket the money..or just leave it as I said when I bought it I wasn't gonna be mad when it gets beat up..20210201_161843_HDR.jpg

Well here's my Progressive story ; The vehicle's before the X have been on the ole lady's ins because of her prefect record or maybe because of my imperfect record . When I got this policy they charged me about twice the going rate saying far as they were concerned even though I had a license I wasn't or had not been driving  Well one day after a year with no ticket's/claim's or anything I got passed by a bunch of car's while playing with the cruise control for the first time since owning the X. So I sped up to them using the cruise and soon as I caught them I got nailed. 29 Over the limit is what I got ticketed for .I think It was 3 point's ? but no classes', no reckless driving charge's or anything else . When I got my renewal notice from progressive they raised my payment by $526 on a 6 month payment schedule  That's $87 more a month  I switched to elephant and put full coverage on Odo for only $14 more a month then progressive charged me for liability before the ticket . UFCK FLOW...........UFCK JAMIE I'm not contributing to their 401k ;)

Im still not sure I fully understand liability vs “full” coverage, especially when they’re not terms used in the plan selection. I just went and changed all mine to the state minimums, so presumably I’m liability only?

Liability pays for the other guy's car/injuries, etc. plus any other property damage (you run into a house) if you are at fault. You're required to have this. Keep in mind that state minimums are usually really low and may leave you vulnerable to additional personal responsibility.

Collision pays for your car if you are at fault in an accident.
Comprehensive pays for your car if it is stolen or otherwise damaged not in an accident with another vehicle(hail/deer, tree falls on it, etc). These two are usually not required unless you have a loan on the car.

Liability only is the state required level. Protects other people if you ufck up. Realistically, you need more than the minimum.

Full coverage means also carrying collision and comprehensive. Collision protects you and your car if you ufck up. Comprehensive protects your car from non collision related damage/theft.

I pay a lot for insurance. But my deductibles on accidents are like $100. And my deductible on comprehensive is zero. There's nothing worse than having something happen to your car only to have to fork over your own money to get it fixed.
