So, I have COVID. Have been at home for 11 days. Stocked the house in advance before my test came back, glad i did. Managed to catch up on all my shows (fck that last season of Scrubs btw) clean out my closets and do a buncha small stuff. Thats all kept me from going nuts. But barely.

Monday will be 14 days since exposure. I only had fever one day; Friday the 4th. Climbed to 100.3 and stopped. Nothing since. Have checked three times daily, nothing. Hasn't been terrible, some coughing, mostly a headache and I cant taste food. I mean I can, but its horribly muted. Like you know you are eating ranch, but its like a fuzzy out of focus TV ranch flavor. Which kinda pisses me off. I can seem to taste Popsicles. So ive eaten like a hundred.

My brother came in from NYC and I cant see him because quarantine. Which REALLY blows.

This is bizarre. I don't have fever, sore throat, stomach issues, anything. If it wasn't for the fact that i get so tired so easy, and my head wont stop intermittently hurting, (almost like a vertigo thing) I honestly wouldn't feel like i was sick at all. Been napping, drinking tons of water mostly. Letting the body do what it does best. No major breathing issues, anything. I wonder if its because im fairly young (okay not that young really) and fairly healthy. I ride my bike 13-15 miles three times or more a week and go to the gym daily. Or did before this.

Eligible to return to work after 10 days, as long as its been three days since fever (check) and symptoms have drastically improved (check). Thats about Tuesday/Wednesday for me. And im ready. I was super careful before, but I have since decided that I will be HYPER vigilant going forward. I dont care if i can get it again or not. I dont wish it on anyone. At all.

Attempted visitors to the house:
  • Jehovahs Witnesses - 2
  • Census workers - 4 (one, four times they are ufckin relentless)
  • Kids peddling things - 2
  • Neighbors checking to see if i was dead in here - 1

Not dead. Just felt like it for a bit.

FYI: Museniex NightShift is GOLD. That stuff has helped me breathe and sleep through the night solidly.
Glad it's not hitting you that hard. Still sucks tho.

Now I feel bad for whining. I don't know how you guys do it but so glad you do!
Don’t feel bad. This business trip was in the works way before Covid became a pandemic. Plus I have an amazing wife that has been able to deal with me being gone for a total of 250+ days each year for the last 4 years.

Also. Got word while I was here that I am getting transferred to a different Unit when I get home. I should be able to be home the majority of the year now.
That's great new's for you , hopefully you'll be home that 250+ day's a year instead of the 115+/- . So you'll still be on the same base, not have to move the family ?

The youngest and I took a ride Friday down to Christiansburg to get another used alternator for the X. The two they had were about as bad as the one I took out.... While we were out we hit the harbor freight and got casters for my old creeper seat. It was my Grandpa's so I don't want to replace it.

We also hit the book store and I got us each a book. She got s Dog Man book and I got a collection of short stories about time travel. Really been enjoying it but stayed up too late last night reading one.

Saturday we worked on a flower bed. Got it done except the mulch. Now to clear off the pad and get ready to build a BBQ shack.

Sunday the wife threw a "white trash" themed party at the house for some girls she works with and their families. No need for me to dress up, I just put on my usual bbq attire and everyone thought it was great! Haha!

With the kids out of the house and back to school I'm having trouble sleeping. After six months of them being home I guess I have gotten use to it being noisy while I'm sleeping. I woke up an hour and a half before my alarm is set to go off and could not go back to sleep.

The wife is looking at retirement homes now. She sent me a link to one that’s $1.8M. Beautiful home but damn that’s speedy
Thats California prices right there. You would be hard pressed to find a house around here that cost that much. Hell you could buy 100 akers and have plenty of money left to build a house for 1.8M.

It ain't just California....

My 1850 square ft house sitting on .1 acres (yes that is point one) built in 1938, is worth more than a 1/2 million. It's crazy here too.

Our house (built in '44) is 2200 sq feet (including finished basement) on 3/4 of an acre lot, and we paid 159 almost three years ago. It's doubled it's value in that time. It's pure insanity.

I think my wife might have the rona, she is complaining that she has a bunch of tge symptoms. She will be too damn stubborn to get tested even though her work is a testing site.
