Load it up, go get it weighed at a CAT station, call ALCAN and order exactly what you want.
That's what I want to do, just don't wanna have to write that check~ I've got a large landscaping lot with a scale they let me run across right down the street..

You need to weigh each axle by itself, not all on one scale. Just make sure the scale you are using does an axle weigh and not an overall weigh.

Throwing my 2 cent's in here , I'll be expecting change !! If I put 20 bushel of oyster's from the axle to the tailgate in the back of a pickup the front end lift's up while the back end squat's : If I load them just forward of the rear axle the front and back squat down together if I pile them up against the back of the cab the front's down more then the back ; So where do you think the majority of YOUR weight's gonna be ? Just behind the back seat's ? from behind the front row seat's back ? are you towing and what's the tongue weight of said trailer [ An Xterra WILL NOT TOW Chug's liquor trailer or Zach's beer trailer ] Can't you guess-ti-mate the weight while loading or make a pile of everything you'll be taking camping in ur house or garage then pick it up and step on a bathroom scale if you need to be accurate ? I would think if you fill just the back it would be around 85-90% would be the on rear axle , from the driver's seat back maybe 60-70% on the rear axle. What kinda armor you got and how much stuff is on the roof ?? Ok , there's too many variable's here that only You can account for and I'm I think I'm getting carpel tunnel from typing so listen to Brunnie and scale it empty then loaded. Damm , now I'm down to a penny .

Ok, last year I installed a backup camera to the X but was surprisingly disappointed with the picture. Believe it or not it was TOO sensitive to light. Moderate sunlight and my LED backup lights were too much for it so I just replaced it today. Quite happy with the replacement. And that black thing is just my bike hitch.

Now comes part 2 and could be in the “dumb question” thread. Since the old one still technically works, where is a decent front location to use it when crawling or over landing? My pioneer deck has front inputs available. Would love to have it underneath somewhere for good views but not get whacked or caked with crap and be useless. Be aware it only cost me $15 so if it’s destroyed, oh well. It’s only $ right? Not like $600 for armor or $4000 for the big TS.

Oh, and didn’t post last week. But....

2 Skar Audio VD8’s with 400 watts each on a Rockville RXD-M0. Again, thanks @General_Tarfun for the location brainstorm. Had to lift the rear seats with blocks and bumpers but got good clearance.

I didn't do anything as nice as SledHead , but I figured since Odo has a haircut it's time to get rid of the side burn's !! 20200908_140900.jpg 20200908_142819.jpg 20200908_144442.jpg

.......................bug and tar remover
.......................scotchbrite sponge

Peel plastic off---scrape off thick glue with scraper do long steady stroke's---spray bug remover on leftover glue let sit a couple , then use scotchbrite slightly soaked with remover---wipe clean with rag ---repeat step 2-3-4 as needed , you'll figure it out !!

That's cool. I didn't realize it was smooth under there. I assumed there'd be bolts or something through the door.

Bug remover, huh? I just learned something new.

Does it work on anything else other than bugs and sticker goo?

She looks good @TheCrabby1 . You gonna leave the rack off?

He covered the holes and matched the white paint pretty nicely and said it gave him 2-3 MPG more, so I'm guessing it's permanent.

The camera is a little more than others of the same style but it’s adjustable and the lower sensitivity is perfect for me. I didn’t even need to adjust anything.

Looks good @TheCrabby1 . You gonna leave the rack off?
When I got looking around the garage to see what could aid in sticker goo removal I had some gas and mineral spirit's and then I noticed Bug and TAR remover and I said "" If it can remove road Tar I gotta try it "" sometimes you get tired of ur hand's smelling like gas for hour's and it's alway's right before you chow down so there's that reasoning:cool:I guess what ever fall's in between bugs and tar ?? is fair game , I've never tried it on anything else but now I will;)I have no intention's to put the rack back on , I mean I'm only around 5ft 8 standing on a pack of match's so having to wait and catch the elevator up to the top of the tire seem's like a waste of time to me . In reality though I'm just trying to keep my center of gravity low especially since I drive too fast in corner's/exit's and with the back seat's down I think I can fit everything I need to carry off road with me. I've still got the nutsert's in the roof with SS bolt's in them with gasket blue and touch up paint on top so I might make a streamline metal bracket one day to hold an awning on but I'm leaning toward's the tent that wrap's around the a$$ end of the vehicle and has it's own awning . I've also thought about buying the magnetic screen door and cutting it to fit over the X's front window's for air circulation , should stay there with the help of a roll of magnetic tape:cool:There I go thinking again !!

Meh
Think I found the problem...

IMG_20200913_204527.jpg

Was getting a pulsing / grinding kinda noise when turning. First thought was wheel bearings but they didn't feel loose or anything. While giving it a spin and yanking on the tie rods I saw the giant hole in the CV boot go by. Yep. That'll do it. Just put the old spare axle in for now and will order a new spare soon. No more grindy turns.

Besides that I got new coils put in. I was getting a ton of interference on my radio that was matching the engine rpm pretty close. Engine runs smooth now, radio stopped humming. The original coils lasted 160k and were still working except for the ham-hell they caused.

Plus new coolant and diff oil. Didn't have time for the trans flush today. Oh well. The sky hasn't fallen yet, tomorrow's another day.

Didn't do anything like 29er did but on my weekly forage for Odo grabbed a plasma lighter for the glovebox and some lugnut's for tire carrier from local salvage yard. Probably get a heat gun for melt mod and a new grease gun today.

Well I sprayed PB Blaster into the hole's in the frame around the 6 bolt's that hold the bumper on every 3-4 day's for the last couple week's [ with the help of one of those bendy drinking straw's ] and gave gentle but forceful "love tap's" LOL with my 2.5lb mini sledge-a-matic hammer and everyone of them came lose with a little Milwaukee hammer drill. Jeff from Adrenalin offroad was surprised he figured they'd round up or snap off especially if he used the bigger hammer drill; in fact he looked at the bolt's carefully and said he would use them again . :) Sure made me smile !! Now if I could only get a phone call saying bumper is done at the powder coater I'd have a smile-ectamy:confused::D

Forgot to add it's a 2005 and being near D.C. AND i 95 ;;; THEY USUALLY PUT DOWN ROAD SALT THAT'S DEEPER THEN THE SNOW , AND LET'S NOT FORGET THE BRINE !!!!

Back around New Years I ordered the shirt throw shifter from PRG. It shipped early to mid-April, but I had used my work address and was working from home at that point. So it just sat in the office since then until last Friday when had to go in to pick up a new monitor. So I grabbed that as well as some other goodies I had stashed at my desk, or had sent to the office but were delivered after mid-March.

So today I installed the shifter and then drove to Target. It’s a significant reduction in the throw distance, and super tight! Kinda reminds me of how my parents’ 4Runner used to feel back when I was used to long ass shifter on the 80s LandCruiser.

Well.... I had a new oil pan put on the X. Seems that a rock on Ophir Pass decided that it didn't like being run over so it retaliated by punching a hole on the oil pan. I was fortunate that I could make it down the hill and to the intersection of Ophir Pass road and Hwy 145 and then call for help. My local mechanic here told me how to make a trail repair that "might" work, and it did. JB Weld to the rescue!! The fix got me from Telluride all the way back to the Springs without leaking.

Funny side story here... The mechanic tried chiseling out the JB weld from where the drain plug should be, but after a few whacks gave up and drilled a hole in the pan to drain the oil out before removing the pan.

So, what have you done to your X recently?

And post pics... we love pics
Was given a product that might help with the yellow hased lenses , it's also quick too. Accomplished first model as well, not a big one but substantial, magnetic fuel door.

Swapped out driver's side window regulator and motor assembly and replaced the Crankshaft position sensor this past week. Got an import direct 3 sensor from O'Reilly's while the OEM one is on the way from Amazon. I read on the reviews that the OEM part is new and improved with a metal sleeve instead of plastic. Anyway, Xterra is running as good as new. ;)
