What a long ufcking night, I ran a bunch of junk because I forgot about one dimension and didn't check it for like 4½ hours.

Dude that sucks
Yeah I will get a write up. They use to have a check sheet that we filled out of dimensions they wanted checked but the QA manager did away with them because "they did nothing for him". I should see if I could write him up for that. So now they give us a control plan that has how often they want shiat checked. When you have 50+ dimensions they want you to check its easy to forget about one.

I'm trying to figure"" why"" with all the off center/twisted/dark/inhuman sense of humor that I've seen and admired on here that NO one has made a comment about the Mike Tyson shark week commercial where he say's { someone's gonna get bit } That $hit's funny or is it just me ? I thought about marketing some gummie vitamin's shaped like ear's under the name Tyson chewy's but Holyfield wanted a big bite of the profit ! Go figure

So as with any week before my vacation. It's sucking...

Yesterday wasn't horrible, but we had a feed water valve on our smaller recovery boiler lock up. We managed to free it and get them control back but they started making plans for us to rebuild it tomorrow.

Today, I was loaned out to the power house for #6 coal boiler outage and we were cleaning the crocks in the precipitator. Right off the bat, in the hot roof for 2 minutes, I slammed my head into a metal plate hanging from the ceiling hard enough to leave a mark on my hard hat and jam my neck. So that's been hurting all day.

Then this evening, we found out one of our shift guy's wife tested positive for COVID-19, so he's getting tested. Because of the time frame, nearly a third of the work force is quarantined till his results come back. It got all 4 electricians in my area and the other two instrument guys got forced to shift to cover so I'm the ONLY guy in our shop for who knows how long.

BUT, because of this, my vacation is at risk.

So if his test takes 3 days, that's Friday before we get the results. If he comes back negative, then no issues... BUT, if he tests positive, then I'm on quarantine till the tests of the guys i work with come back. So that's up to 8 days waiting, which puts me 1/2 way through my vacation, with my brother, his wife and 2y/o son, and my Dad and his girlfriend who are both in their 70s, plus my family of 5.

So to expedite that, I went ahead and got tested after work. It sucks and I do risk a false positive, but it gets me results in 3 days vs a possible 8 and won't delay my vacation if I'm clean.

If it does come back positive, I get two weeks of work. And hopefully I can get the new transfer case in my Xterra and be ready to raise some hell once I'm off quarantine....

I'm not getting paid to stay home yet. As of right now they don't consider me an exposure risk since I want directly in contact with the guy getting tested. Right now I'm the ONLY guy left in the shop unless one of the guys who are on quarantine test positive.

Dam TerryD ; I was going to go into a rant about our kitchen refrigerator starting to go up and getting less cool/cold these last two day's and how any good refrigerator 19 cubic feet and above is back ordered from the Aug 15th thru Oct 8th in our area . We do have a small fridge in the basement that will have to suffice, but compared to your day my day is insignificant. Hope it all work's itself out for you !!!

I think you miss understood, I'm not staying home. I still have to go to work. Everyone else in the shop is staying home or forced onto shift to cover for folks who are quarantined. I'm the only guy showing up tomorrow for the Recovery E&I shop. They're screwed....

Our situations are similar. I have a week-long vacation starting next week. was planning on heading with the family to the mountains, do some wheeling and hike to some lakes.

This past Monday an individual tested positive for COVID; the same individual that was in my office talking with me for 45 minutes a few days prior. The day I found out he was positive I got the throat swab test AND the nasal test (fun).

Stayed home from work self-quarantined yesterday. Should have test results today. We'll see what happens, best of luck!!

Boxing over UFC any day for me. Boxing is more intelligent, a chess match. UFC just doesn't appeal to me.
Used to be that way for me. I was a huge boxing fan for years. Watched the heavy weights, (of course) and loved to watch Roy Jones, Tarver, Trinidad, Hopkins, Paquiao, De La Hoya..

It just changed for me. I havent seen anyone in a while that just excited me. So I switched to UFC and some of those guys really really brawl. Stipe v Comier, Masvidal, McGregor, Israel Adesanya.

Dunno pretty enjoyable for me.

The way it was explained to me is the nasal swab is more accurate then a throat / saliva test. Since I was designated as a high risk exposure I had to do the nasal swab.

It actually wasn't that bad, felt like getting water up your nose. My eyes teared up a bit and that was it. 5 seconds each side.

County called yesterday and notified I was negative. I think I'm a kimono dragon at this point with all the exposure I've had. Or I've already had it and never knew it...

Got a call from work that we were getting audio drops on the link to the local MLB stadium. Turns out we were shoving 23Mb of data through a 20Mb pipe. Couldn't help but laugh at that one.

So it seems in VA it was not the best idea to buy a vehicle during the pandemic. I filled out for my tags and title online and mailed off everything I needed. Admittedly I forgot to check the "actual milage" box so 1 month later I got my app back. I competed it and mailed it off again. As a veteran I requested the vet tags. 3 weeks later I got Vietnam vet tags (I'm 45 born the year after the deal finished up)

So I call the DMV and lady I talk to recognizes this mistake and says she is sending me the standard vet tags and canceling the VV tags. Once I get my real tags I'm supposed to mail these VV tags back.

So I get mine real tags finally and am waiting to make sure I have every thing. Now today 3 months after I initially sent in the paperwork I get a letter from the DMV saying my tags ( the VV ones) are being made and will be delivered once done with a sticker good until next year and a set of 30 days tags.

I got 30 day tags because the VV tags I can't use and received 2 months ago are still being made.

I don't even know what to say at this point

There's nothing to say. It's VA. I spent 37 years there. The left hand knows not a gobbledamn thing about what the right hand is doing.

DMV related.

Back in 04 I took my Mustang off the road. Was my daily. Was doing a bunch of work to it and bought a new daily. Cancelled the insurance and moved the tags to the new daily. Strangely a the same time, personal property taxes stopped coming. No complaints. Come 09, I'm ready to drive it again. But in that 5 years I had sold that daily, retired the plates, moved to a few different cities and in the last two years all I had was a bike. Same plate number was available. So I got new plates (with the old number) and insurance on the Mustang again. Still no personal property taxes. In 15 the car became eligible for antique plates in VA. So I jumped on it. All of a sudden I got a bill for $700 from the city of Portsmouth for personal property taxes dating back to 04. I told them to suck it as my address had changed several times since then and they couldn't collect.

The left hand has no ufcking clue what the right hand is doing.
