Little update ,
Have about 700 miles on the tires now and very happy I went 35s and not 33s
•Still happy with the road noise , you know they are there but it’s not annoying
•Drives and corners great
•second trip out in the snow they worked way better ,think I finally wore off the releasing agent or whatever it’s called that’s on new tires
• they work well at 12psi but think I may have to go to 8 to get them to really squat in the snow .
• mileage has dropped to 16 mpg on the freeway

Small update rear wheel spacer took care of the frame contact and still ticks inside the wheel well . Think I will swap it out for a 1/2” spacer down the road 3FFB8B2D-EA35-4BDE-952B-CAA82AF031CE.jpeg199D8322-1242-4D71-8376-97377573426E.jpeg

Been out enjoying the xterra , taken a few trips up in the snow and quite a few backroad drives and put a little over a thousand miles on it sense the 35s . They need really low air to be really effective in the deeper snow 8-10psi seems to be its happy spot and running about 26-28 psi on the street . ADEED1EA-5B0C-4525-9AB3-D777C8AB24A1.jpeg

at 12 psi they really don’t squat a ton

Sorry a edit to the last post ... I have put another 1000 miles on it so it’s closer to 2k miles sense the 35s and lift .380E7C63-C2D1-42C3-B4A0-7F95C05E0734.jpeg6869F2A7-AB3C-4E58-9467-25BFDCBD6376.jpegF46F212D-D21E-41CF-8839-6CE771E81BF6.jpeg

Found a quick and easy solution for my emergency bag I always take when on trips .
Blanket, ground pad , sleeping bag , change of clothes , extra socks , gloves , emergency blankets ,small bit of cordage , knife , Fire starter , water filter , snacks , 2 bottles of water , 1 emergency self heating food bag and some other junk . 5A788FE8-1637-4710-B5ED-8C1E582E7A9F.jpeg

Nice, i cut my fenders similar to yours, you can see on my build page. I trimmed to avoid doing a body lift. Looks good, I'm surprised those tires fit as good as they do!

Moved the rear axle forward a inch , now the tires are out of the rear bumper and stuff almost perfectly .had to make some spacers from what I had laying around to keep the brake lines happy and space down the bumpstops . Next order of business will be shocks . Hey Smiley , I've only had my X for over a year and we've not had a deep snow in the mid-Atlantic in a couple year's so I'm wondering how much will she go thru ? And how much when you had smaller shoe's on her ? I'm running 265/75/16 wildpeak's 31.7 inch'es tall . Look's great with the lift and Cepek's and I am partial to that color [white 05 S] LOL Anyway Thank's"""""""""""""

Couldn’t tell you with the stock tire size as they where not on there very long.Honestly it would be really hard to know with so many variables to account for like
the type of snow ?
comfort level with low psi ?
lockers ?
The loose nut behind the wheel?

Really the type of snow is the biggest factor. If it’s super soft dry and fluffy you can push through tons of it , around here in the lower elevations we tend to get this horrible as we call it concrete snow , great for snowball fights and building snowman but kinda crap for driving through.

To give you a idea this was that wonderful dry powder snow that I had been pushing through for a couple of miles on stock crappy all season tires but 2 days before got stuck in 5” of that crappy refrozen concrete snow and had to dig my way out of a parking lot with a slight incline . 25731165-20F0-4D2F-B91A-6874410B8750.jpeg

Shocks showed up , hope these work they where a super good deal at 17$ a piece. 15 1/2 collapsed 25 3/4 extended . Cutting it close on the collapsed length so I might have to fiddle with the mounts to be on the safe side and keep them from bottoming out. F1E01AC9-7327-47D8-A158-B9CDFC01E1E9.jpeg

it’s not the pressure side of the brake fitting just the mounting tab , I’ve done some dumb stuff in my day but I would never stack washers on the fluid side of a brake fitting lol
I get it. And I can see that. But at first glance it's like

Well I could t sleep last night and that led to my mind wandering , on top of the normal life stuff and thoughts of family future I of corse wandered over to “ what other ways could I get a straight axle under the xterra “ well after some quick measuring and probably being wrong I came up with a probably terrible idea .

Using a set of ford super duty axles ( cheap , strong , can come with 4.10s )
Maybe a SAS kit for a 98 and up Chevy 3/4-1ton
A set of Chevy rear springs from a square body (soft and long ).

With my ruff measuring the rear shackle hanger would land almost perfectly where the frame flares out at 38” and that’s convenient because the sas kit for the Chevy only works on frames that are 38.5” wide . Or use a set of shackle sliders .91B48E32-4B76-41FB-A956-E8BA859DA604.png 34B08E9E-D9F3-451B-9FA2-91E4F6D68687.png 6178584A-3DDD-4E9B-9E4D-B4A5F2DE015E.png

I've considered JKUR D44s and radius arms in the front. I think a 2" frame notch over the front axle would let me stay around 4" total lift and 33s.

get the parts I’ll fly out and help , the fiancé wants to fly to the East coast to visit family anyways

If it was only in the budget right now. I really don't think it would be that hard. New mounts with poly bushings stacked on the axle and big Johnny joints on the frame end with some coilovers on custom towers. Push the axle forward about 1.5" for clearance behind the tires. Be an adaptation of the 70s F150 front suspension.

But that's like $4-5k in axles if you can even find a full set and I just don't have that at the moment. Most SAS'd 2nd Gens are massive and I just don't want something that big but I do miss the SFA articulation.

Over the weekend the Fiancé had been down with the flu for the last couple days and that’s not normal considering she hasn’t been sick in 7 years even though she works in home heath care ( must be the probiotics and red wine ) but she really wanted to get out of the house so we just went for a relaxing drive up the clackamas River to explore a couple of backroads we have never been down before all while letting the great narration of Jim Dale fill our ears ... seriously if you have never listen to the Harry Potter audio books you are missing out on the talent of one amazing book reader , he puts so much depth and verity into a reading it’s actually quite amazing. On our little drive we saw some waterfalls , a bit of snow and some chunks of water pipe used for a waterline that if I had to guess where 10’ in diameter and stretch a good 15 miles.all in all a nice couple hours spent away from home . On a side note I need to get a little better about taking pictures and maybe having my better half write about our outing because to be honest I have the writing skill of a horribly trained baboon. 9FD67726-16D0-4278-8A70-39E785AD55B9.jpeg 2A192D19-0482-4880-8F5C-BDDD39416E4C.jpeg C1FE4342-12D6-4BCF-9CAB-EFE38DD3D632.jpeg 6DB23B22-AC70-4494-B915-DC36F32DD481.jpeg

Between picking out a new rig for the fiancé , getting some sort of flu and just General life stuff I feel like it’s been months sense I’ve been out exploring . But I did get the fog lights remounted and the bumper painted, add a leaf in the rear and a 1/4” spacer in the front so there’s some more things to check of the before it goes up for sale to do list . You mentioned the low weight of the tire / rim combo in your bumper thread, do you remember what the combined weight is? Thanks.
