I do understand that. I'm having the same issue with the falken tire's; reg at3w's and add new TPMS or the LT's 11.3 lbs heavier $37 more or keep the laredos buy another set of used rim's and put falken MT's on and switch around as needed. It's almost enough to make me pull my hair out but i'm already bald on top.
I can offer my experience...
When I had my Cherokee, I had one set of wheels with some mild ATs on them and another set with some aggressive MTs on them. I finally got very tired of swapping wheels all the time and just stuck with the MTs and sold the ATs.
I've heard of many almost-MT tires that are just as quiet on the road as a AT (if rotated regularly) that have great performance in most conditions.
I myself evaluated my actual use and decided that that Cooper Discoverer AT3 would suit my needs and so far I've been very happy with them. The Falken AT3Ws do equally as well, a friend uses them and we've both been very satisfied.
At the end of the day, I don't have to worry about going home to swap tires if I should decide to do some exploring or jump in with a group I encounter. Just air down and hit the trail. What the tires won't handle, I have a winch for....
