Ehhh, I just broke down and bought a new laptop for the time being.
Mal-mart had a 14" HP with 128GB SSD and 4GB with a Ryzen processor for $240 on black friday. My local one still had one in stock so I nabbed it. I know it's not the greatest laptop out there, especially from Wally-world but it will do what I ask of a lap top, much better than the one I had that was a W10 tablet pretending to be a laptop and not doing either well.
I'll do some more research on tablets but I think I'm going to go with the old "buy once cry once" and get the Samsung S5e. twice the RAM of the knockoffs I was looking at and I should be able to get several years use out of it rather than having to replace the $100 ones every year or so.
I just hate dealing with all the specs. They're spread all over the place, no one lists the specs in a way that they are easy to compare. Even Samsung screws around on their website and doesn't list each device in the same manner. It's all marketing wankateering and it pisses me off. Like everyone measures performance in the same manner, why not just list the important stuff right up front. OS, RAM, ROM, processor speed, battery capacity, and features. And don't screw around saying you have a feature you don't like the GPS vs A-GPS....
