Where can I get hood struts? The link in the DIY went to a site that said they no longer had it
Damn, I had them in my Saved For Later @ Amazon but just went and looked and poof, gone.. I'm sure someone will chime in as I'll need those part #'s again too~

Will it work on a 1st gen? Seems like it should since it's just the strut...? Says fits 05-15 so I'm not sure

I'm sure you could get it to work on a 1st gen.. I think if you source the materials yourself, there's probably a thread here or for sure there's one on TNX, I think you can get it done for about 40$..
You'd have to make your own brackets. Or source some. At that point there's no reason to buy the kit.

I just installed Morimoto XB Fog lights and they have like a red/green hue under the beam, it's dimmer than the beam. They were pointed at a wall that was 3 feet away, so I'm assuming it won't be visible on the road. I'll be able to tell tonight, when I can test them better.

So I'm about to order some HD coil springs to put on my 5100s and I see at the bottom of the screen in the impulse buy/click section:

"Other people who bought this item also purchased these" Coil Spring Assembly

wtf, do I need this?

No, now when I go look at them they don't suggest a 'coil spring assembly'.. I ordered the adj 5100 fronts awhile back, I haven't even pulled them out yet. I guess that's my next step is to see what hardware they came with.

Here's a pic of everything I used when I assembled mine, if I remember correctly the 5100's came with (for each) 1 washer, the lower spring perch, 1 circlip, 1 zip tie, the top nut, and a good dose of anxiety about getting the assembly order wrong haha.

I'm thinking about lowering the amount of preload on my coilovers by one notch worth of distance. Looking at them I'm starting to think that couldn't I achieve the same thing just by backing the top nut off the same distance?

You definitely don't want to loosen the top hat nut. That needs to remain tight so that nothing can shift around on the coil. If you run into an unload situation for any reason, the coil has a better chance of moving.

There _used_ to be a vid on YT where a shop repaired a SMOD transmission, but the background music he had on in his shop got the vid claimed.

From what I remember you had to reeeeeealy clean out the computer from the coolant contamination, and then repair the 'traces' from the connector to the rest of the computer, in addition to replacing all the frictions.

Has anyone of you geniuses attempted or know what it'd take to put an overhead light/sunglasses holder in my X with S trim that only has the lights in the overhead console? If so, I wonder what it would take to find and purchase one at a pick 'n pull.. I saw this over at that other place and thought it would make for a good housing for switches. Any suggestions? And what is that switch next to the lights, garage door?

The switch next to the lights is for the sunroof. I'd say that panel came from a Pathfinder or possibly a 1st gen Xterra, some had sunroofs.

You don't want that. You want a Bluetooth console from a 2nd Gen. I swapped mine out. It worked fine.

Another option is to grab just the sunglass holder part from an early 2000s Altima or Maxima. Close to the same color, and you don't have to remove the existing lights from the X, just cut a hole big enough for the holder, make a simple metal bracket to screw into, and put that in place. TNX has/had a guide on how to do it, or I might do a how-to on here if I ever stop being lazy and actually install mine (also, it is getting cold outside around these parts and I haven't yet convinced the wife on why a heated garage is necessary...)

Ahh, good idea. I guess I just need to start looking around.
@Prime , Have you looked for parts/misc at pick 'n pull type places around our area?

There's a lot like that about 15 minutes from the house. They have Xs every once in a rare while. I want to go check out that bigger one up near the 70/76 interchange.
