I was looking online and found a set of front and rear adjustable shocks sold in both 0-2in or 2-4in i guess my question would be if the 2-4in shocks a stock replcement lifting shock without coils and would i require any other parts to install?

Front bils are adjustable from 0-2" of lift. They use the stock springs and top plates/hardware.
The rears are not adjustable. Rear shocks provide no lift, the leaf springs do. The rear bils are available to accommodate the amount of lift you have provided by the leaf springs. I personally have approximately 3 1/2 of lift due to an adjustable shackle and an aal. I bought my bils from prg for 3-5 of lift

Yea im online like everyday looking around for a nice way to lift my X but all the reading on XN has really got me leaning more towards a titan swap i know a guy that wrecked an armada a few years ago and he still has it sitting but idk much about the armada if everything is transferable

Not sure about the control arms, but the front diff will work. Probably have to regear it though.

We are running the Bils up front on our Xterra set at 1" the added a 1" spacer plate from Nisstec.. This keeps your factory smooth ride with 2" of lift added.
Anymore than 2" you will need new Upper control arms to battle the factory control arms from hitting the bucket.

Think about this though.. If you are planning on lifting more down the road then do it right.. Save up and get the Nisstec MK84's and SPC control arms for the front and in the rear new leafs and maybe shackles... Yeah its a lot more monty but the road you are heading down.. It will save you money from switching out a year from now..

I'm going to call Rugged Rocks on Mon to see about some springs. I'm wanting to lift the front and back 2".
I've got rear 5100s at 2" and the adj 5100s to put up front with the Nisstec 1" spacers I got from a member.
Question is with the addition of a SW steel bumper, sliders and a winch, what springs should I be looking for?

Thx,

L

Most people with the steel bumpers go with the heavy duty springs. Have you already installed the 5100's + spacer? With them set a 2" plus the spacer lift I'd think you would be over 2" of lift already. The bumper and sliders should help weigh it down some though, I'm not sure but the HD springs might be too stiff set at 2". Hopefully someone running something close to that setup can chime in.

Note, don't run the adjustable Bilsteins higher than 1". You'll blow the shocks out. I don't know why they said it'd do 2" of lift. Because it won't do it reliably.

I was wondering how that much preload + a spacer would affect them, what is it doing to the static ride height of the shock? Is he losing uptravel or downtravel?

Hmm. I haven't installed the 5100s front or rear yet. They're sitting on my living room floor so I have to look at em everyday, hopefully that'll get me to do something with em.

The plan was to put the front 5100s at 1" along with the 1" Nisstec spacers and install the 2" shackles I've got in the rear. My thoughts are it would keep the same stance, just sit a cpl inches higher. Am I wrong in assuming this?

Do you think I'll have top out problems running a 1" spacer and 5100s set to 1"?

The last thing I want to do is make my ride worse..

Since you're doing a front bumper, I think, honestly, you'd be better off with stock height on the shocks, higher rate springs, and a 2" top spacer.

I don't think so with that setup, I have mine set to 1" and 2" spacer and the ride isn't bad. I have more down travel than up but not to a point where it's a bad ride. I have the regular non-HD springs but I also don't have the weight of steel bumper to help weigh it down. Worst case at least it's adjustable if you don't like the ride, just drop the circlip down a notch or two.

So, these are the 1st coil spacers I've ever purchased. Is a 1.25" tall spacer a "2 in"?

These pics were from a time before I came to the darkside.. Pls xcuse.Screenshot_2019-09-01-22-40-41.png Screenshot_2019-09-01-22-38-50.png

Will that setup work with just 2" rear shackles?

I guess what I'm asking is will I have the same stance, just lifted?

Just a note..... If those spacers really are 1 1/4" thick, then you will theoretically receive 2 1/2" of lift. Maybe it's mentioned above, but at the 2" lift mark you can run into Coil Bucket Contact (CBC), at 2 1/2" or 3" you absolutely will, so you may need to invest in UCA's.

Shti.. I have to avoid that! I just dropped a bunch of dough on this pig and can't afford to do uca's yet.

If I don't do the uca's yet, will CBC cause damage? I know it can't begood but is it worth waiting till I can afford them? Or maybe buying shorter spacers..

Damn it Beavis

I'm running 2" lift on stock UCAs. Coil buckets only contact off road. Just makes noise and limits travel. I wouldn't stress about it.

Or if you're that worried about it, you could just run the 5100s and shackles at lower settings (1.5" lift) until you can get the arms. 285's will fit at stock ride height so it's not like you're gaining anything but some ground clearance by pushing it to 2" right off the bat.
