I've been lurking around this forum for about two years and became a member about a year ago after I finally bought my own xterra. I figure it's time to start my own build thread, as the mod monster is nipping at me!

Year: 2000
Trim: XE (as far as I know)
Name: Roxanne

I bought Roxanne in December of 2017 with 155,752 miles. I am the third or fourth owner, I can't remember which. She is my first vehicle!

Probably a week after I got her:

I didn't do much to her for a while, I ended up getting a Raingler ceiling net, which now holds a poncho, hoodie, towels, and paper towels.

This was from my first time offroading:

In June 2018, I wrecked coming home from work late at night. My air bags didn't deploy; the light had been on since I bought her. I can't say the same for the Rogue I hit (take that Xterra replacer), it was totalled.

The damage, the day after:

Since I had only liability, my dad and I fixed her up ourselves, with the exception of frame straightening. It took several months to get it all together on weekends and what not. I lost a bunch of progress pictures, I have no idea what happened to them.Message_1530551861766_zpsnhiyl5jn.jpg

My dad welded on a new radiator support in the rain:

This moved up the schedule on my buying a bumper...Message_1531247290415.jpg
Finished!

She still isn't painted, and there is a clunking noise presumably under the dash that we haven't gotten around to fixing yet, but she looks good and runs regardless.

They just straightened it out. Honestly the most expensive thing we had done, it was in the neighborhood of 1100.

I like the look of that bumper! Awesome. That would look good on my "Greenie", since it needs some bumper work anyways. :D Post up some more views of that bumper, if you get a chance.

So I'm looking into getting some lights to mount on the bumper, either a bar or two round. Any suggestions?

Removed my sway bar! A long overdue mod. I want to say I can feel a difference but it might just be me...

Also I had to take Roxanne back to the paint shop as there was a miscommunication and they taped off the trim instead of removing it. While she was there I had them paint these:20190329_152339_HDR_zpsnax7t5si.jpg

Saw a few folks do this:

And yes that is a matchbox X.

And some pictures from Hidden Falls Adventure Park north of San Antonio. Should have taken more but I was super excited.

And a sticker!

I also ordered a 2" body lift kit. Excited! Another big step (to me) to get Roxanne where I want her.

How much can I sell a sway bar for? Or should I just toss it? I know no one on here is going to want it.

On another note, I have more goodies coming my way.

Are you serious? Because that would actually be really cool!

Roxanne got some exercise today:

I am running 31"x10.50 BFG KO2s. On there when I bought her. I think she has been leveled by way of the torsion bars, but no suspension lift as of yet. I intend to do the body lift, suspension lift, and go to at least 33" tires.

Got some cheap Amazon lights! I had some trouble getting pics up so I've had them on for a while. Commence pic dump:

They might be a bit crooked but the whole bumper is...I might fix that one day lol. Also in the second pic you can see that my parking light went out. I didn't notice that at the time but have fixed it since. The left and right are different shades of orange however. I think it has been like that since I replaced the right after I wrecked but not sure.

Also my Dad and I got these in...20190603_105041.jpg

They aren't wired up yet and I have yet to decide if I want them wired to the reverse light or a switch. Input would be appreciated.

You can also see that I have painted some of the plastic. A work in progress...

Why not both? Use a relay to take input from either a switch or the reverse circuit and turn the lights on. Best of both worlds.

Link meh @Muadeeb !

I personally know nothing about wiring, my dad does it and I watch. He said he doesn't know how to do that.

My main concern is if I put it in reverse I may inadvertently blind someone or something like that.

Haven't posted up much in a while but I have done a few things to Roxanne lately.

New headlights, adjustments pending:
20190703_124714.jpg

Also did the body lift with the help of my brothers, my dad, and a friend. I didn't take any progress pictures, so this is at ECXC. Bumper gap is noticeable and a fix is also pending. 20190718_163441.jpg

On the way home from ECXC my wheel tried to come off. I have no idea why or how but I ended up stopping in Alabama to get the lugs replaced and got home at four in the morning. That was stressful.
20190721_120124.jpg 20190721_121835.jpg

Later I replaced the motor mounts with my dad. Old mount pictured below. Also the harmonic balancer came apart. Replaced that all by myself!20190810_162408.jpg 20190820_131244.jpg

A couple days ago I went and got myself stuck in the mud. That was fun. I still haven't got the winch on so I had to call my dad to pull me out with his suburban.

Anyway that's what's been going on with me. I've been looking into getting a pickup (with a V8), and while I don't want to sell Roxanne it might be necessary. We will see.

From someone who sold a pretty well put together 4x4 to get a pickup in the past, just buy the truck and keep the X. You'll regret it and you'll lose your @$$ selling a modified vehicle.

Years later I've had to start from scratch when originally I had a ton of good quality parts on my XJ and let them go for nothing.
