Hello all! I just bought my first xterra, I have been looking at them for quite a while and yesterday finally was able to snag one, she’s older and is at 200,800 miles but she has been beautifully maintained and I feel has a lot of miles left...I live way out and really needed a rig that could traverse the all snow and dirt roads I drive every day. I can’t wait to learn more and start making some mods on her to make her feel more like mine!

Thanks for being willing to share your knowledge with me!

Mmmmm.... Square light goodness. Don't let those weird 1.5 round light guys try to dissuade you, square is better :D

A word of caution on the brush guard: We call those thing "damage multipliers" for a reason

They turn a minor incident the X can shrug off into a totaling.

That’s good to know!!! My hope is to put a ARB bumper and bull bar on her as soon as I can afford one, chances of smacking a deer or something bigger out here is pretty high!! And I live on open range five months out of the year and cows just flat out don’t move

Yep. A bar on a real bumper (ARB, Shrock, RLC) is your best bet. We did have a guy at WENT a few weeks ago do some major damage to his ARB, but I do not know all the details on that.

So, question for you, my lights are pretty dim and when I have my high beams on my driver side headlight is dead, so I need to replace the whole assembly or just replace the bulbs?

Just the bulb. 9002 iirc, but best to pull the bulb and take it in. I've seen differing lists of what bulb goes in and it's been too long since I've pulled mine.

being part of that bumper remodel, I was the one who bent it out of the tire, I can attest to a shrock or RLC being a much better choice. much better.

Thanks!!! My one requirement was a manual transmission, I love driving one and didn’t want a auto!

Thank you so much! This is the kind of info I need, my dad and I looked both of them up and I think once I have the cash I’ll go with the Shrock

I had those on an xterra once with good results. I don’t have your climate however. I bet they do fine.

I have a shrock front bumper and love it. Ive kissed trees with it and it held up fine dead pulling a guy at a severe angle dragging him through the mud using a 12000lb winch. I was hooked to his RLC rear bumper recovery points and the welds held up.

With that said....before i got my bumper i was planning on getting an RLC but found the shrock on craigslit for $300.....cant really pass that up.
