Spare tire removal

Does anybody know any tips on getting the spare out from underneath the truck without the tool? My truck(‘00)never had the jack or tool when I bought it.

And if it’s anything like the rest of the truck, that mechanism is going to be seized up.

Am I stuck trying to get a torch or angle grinder behind the spare and cutting that chain?

Unless you can get your hands on the T handle that drops the spare, your only recourse is to cut the foot that holds the wheel in place.

Ooh, you got one eh? I’m not too confident that it’ll work but I’ll try and give that mechanism a good soak with some Deep Creep & maybe meet up with you & giver a try! You literally are just down the street. Lol

I've never tried Deep creep but I have a can of PB blaster in the truck and one in the garage. this stuff works specially with removing stuff on Canadian vehicles

it's all just weasel (urine). just use lots of it. Project Farm on Youtube has a great "which works best" video. maybe not scientific but very intersesting none the less.
