Well I bought another xterra, 3rd times a charm right? I was looking for a while to pick one up but all 1st gens are just so old and beat up for the most part. Found this 2 owner truck, same guy has owned it since 2005 and he babied it. Always kept in the garage he said and it was under sprayed every year. For a Canadian truck 15 years old this thing is incredibly clean. Hopefully I can slowly find some parts and build this one up at a bit. First things first is to replace the timing belt which is due right now than I am going to lift the truck 1.5" but by having the leaf springs re-arched + adding another full size leaf. I haul a lot of stuff quite often and I just want to add some strength to the rear end & hopefully they dont break on me anytime soon.

The plastics were barely faded as he garage kept the truck for the most part but I painted the grill/headlight bezels, will end up doing most of the plastics eventually

First Fill-Up (of many)
nice find...looks like it had Pathfinder wheels on it. finding a good SUV is getting harder and harder. I picked up a 02 this summer and am loving every minute of it.

Only took 8 months but I finally tracked down a shrock bumper and picked it up yesterday, had to do a 6 hour round trip but was worth it. Now I can finally start getting motivated to get another build going lol

Hey stranger! Glad you're still making progress on the truck.

Thanks. It's very hard to find any local parts these days and I just had surgery so I am down and out for a month but I got some plans for the truck in the near future just need to order some stuff. Will just be a modest build but it would be nice to get back to the point where my last X was

Some progress on the bumper. Lots of pits in the metal and it was pretty rough when I got it but shes cleaned up and painted now. Not perfect but it's good enough for this year. The two worst spots are covered by the license plate and light bar so overall it should look pretty decent. Hopefully this weekend the bumper and light bar will get installedthumbnail_20180620_142957.jpg thumbnail_20180620_154838.jpg thumbnail_20180621_092116.jpg

Looking good! Regular paint or bedline?

Flat black paint, been using it for years on all the metal/plastic parts of my previous X's. Always looks amazing and doesnt have that "spray painted DIY look" like some gloss blacks do. The paint was still wet in that picture but its the same that I used on these previous bumpers etc.

Been raining all week but I got the 20" light bar installed and wired up. Also snagged a pair of shrockworks sliders yesterday for a price I couldnt pass on. They were primed but he never got around to actually putting them on his truck.

Installed the new Micro Evolution LED headlight bulbs from VLEDS. Regular $175USD but was 25% off for black friday so I pulled the trigger, just got them today (two days later) The lights look great in person, bright and have a good cut off line. Mostly plug-n-play but had to modify the big "O ring" or whatever that holds the bulb into place, since these lights had a wire sticking out the side the bulb wouldnt fit centered unless you cut a little piece out but once I figured that out it was easy.
Bad picture, couldn't get good one with my phone but ill try to get some good night shots with it on a dry day.

Haven't been on here in forever. Not much has happened with the X as its just a daily driver for the most part.
Cool story though - The old tire carrier bumper I had like 8 years ago - added a few custom pieces to it (hi-lift mount from a jeep JK,canadian leaf gusset, few other parts to strengthen it etc) anyways someone had a bumper for sale recently, drove a few hours to pick it up, sure enough its my old bumper lol. I was super happy to see it again, In the spring I'll need to fix it all up and get her looking new again

My main issue now is - This truck is pretty high KM and I have been looking for a long time now to get another lower km 1.5 gen to put money into but ive had no luck. If nothing comes up by spring ill start throwing some money into this truck I guess

Added full length leaf and re-arched the pack, adjusted torsion bars in the front and installed new shocks all around. Rides much better now. I found the shocks on amazon, pretty cheap and had good reviews for 1st gens. Havent driven alot yet but of course feel much better than my 18 year old ones did lol

Not much has changed but I guess this build is now over too, not that I did much anyways. Fiancee took over this truck and I got myself an F150. Going from a 3.3 first gen to a 5.0L... WORLD of difference lol
