Defrost and Defogger Heat

The other day I tried to warm up my car after a snow/ice storm. I had it running for 15 minutes and the heat never got hot. I had to bring it back to the dealership today. Has anyone else had this problem ?

Yep. Either low on coolant or an air bubble in the system. You could try burping the coolant or adding some if it's low. Lemme look for a thread that describes it

Couldn't find a thread on it, but...

The 1st step is to check your coolant level. Engine idling and hot. Coolant should be at Max level. If not, add coolant then rev engine or drive for a bit. If heat works ok after that, your good. If not, check coolant level again, you might have to repeat the process a couple of times.

Thanks for the information. I had no idea so I just brought it back to the dealership and are letting them handle it. But good to know for future reference. Is this a common problem with Xterra's or just any car in general?

That's just general car stuff. The coolant is used to produce the heat for the cabin. If the coolant is low the heater core under the dash never gets hot enough to heat the air.
