As some people know I have had a thing for motorcycles over the past year or two and have been aching to get on one. I recently started shopping pretty hard and looked at several different bike including a 2015 CBR300R a 2017 CBR300F and of course the Grom 125. I wasnt really sure what I wanted, but I knew I wanted something cheap on fuel, fun to ride, and enough to get me around to work and school. I ended up going and putting my name in on a 2018 Honda Grom about a month and a half ago at a local dealership. About a week and a half ago they called me and said the bike had arrived. I went in and test rode it around the lot and came back monday and purchased it.

This little bike has been a blast and I have put 200 miles on it in less than a week just cruising around my small town and running various errands. I have gotten alot of questions, smiles, and waves from people and everyone seems to like this little bike.

As for my plans with upgrades, I am going to change a few things for right now, but I dont plan to get to crazy until it is closer to being paid off. I have already ordered a TST fender eliminator and low profile rear signals which should arrive later this week. I also ordered a RAM phone mount that clamps to the bars so when I can mount my phone up close and not have it falling out of my pockets while riding.

I can't wait to start playing around more, but I am almost out of riding season until spring so I will be riding as much as I can before the snow hits. Knobby tires maybe?

Ah! I’ve got a RAM mount on my horse.

Works great. I also ran a phone charging cord to a “Battery Tender 081-0158” quick disconnect plug with USB Charger. It keeps the phone charged while I use it for navigation.

Just a heads up; the RAM mount has you glue the small rubber grips on with supplied “super gule”. Do this off the bike…

Good to know, it should be arriving here today some time. I will likely throw it on tonight and try it out for tomorrow. I carry a charger everywhere and dont really use nav much so not sure I need a charger

That looks great bro!

Just a side question; how do you secure that ride while your “in class”, work or whatever?

The reason I ask is that beauty would be loaded in a van and gone in about 15 minutes here in Brooklyn.

Solid question, it has a steering lock and then I park it in front of te main door with cameras so not much worry at school. At work I dont really worry much about it since they wouldnt get in and out of our lot without us knowing.

IMHO you should get one of those disc brake locks. Slows them down and deters a bit more than a steering lock alone. Cheap on Amazon, I got a red one so I can spot it easily and don't forget to take it off.

Probably wouldnt hurt, I may get one for when I take the bike out of town.

Ordered a new mirror for the bars to get rid of the big tall bug antennas. Should clean up the look a good bit. Next on the list is some better clutch springs and K&N filter.

That looks a lot better!

Thanks! I think it turned out awesome and cleans up the rear end pretty good. My new mirror should be here Monday and I ordered Flush mount front turn signals but since theyre coming from TST in central FL they may not make it here in the most timely manner. no worries though

I got my new micro mirror today, cleans up the top of the bike alot more and allows me to see the left lane which is really all I need since I ride in the left mostly.

Today I decided to remove some restrictive intake parts to hopefully help power a little bit. Went for a ride and noticed a touch more noise and was able to reach 64mph so maybe I gained something!

Did the first oil change tonight, just about at 600miles in 3 weeks which is pretty solid miles/week.

I will likely do the next change at about 1500miles

Little update:

Went out riding around this morning, managed to find the absolute top speed at 67mph doing 9400rpm downhill full tuck. Flat ground top speed was 64mph at 9000rpm.

On order I have new levers, custom stainless brake lines, K&N air filter, and a USB plug phone charging port so I can charge phone and run GPS constantly.

I also ordered my new helmet as the one I am currently using is borrowed. HOPEFULLY have everything this week and get the bike out for another speed run and hopefully get that 70mph mark

wooowww. I knew it was only a 125, but damn that's slow for a bike! hahaha

I'd be lucky if that thing would carry my fat ass 30mph.

Got my stainless braided lines on the other night. The front was easy enough but the rear required me to tear the whole right side fairing off to get to everything I needed. Discovered a leak after I had closed everything and had to tear it all apart again to fill the resivor back up. First impressions are that these things are awesome and greatly improve brake feel.

Well I was dicking around and looped the grom in the parkinglot at the college. Apparently trying to do a stoppie at 18-20mph wasnt a smart idea when you arent used to the new levers and lines. Cracked the left side tail fairing and the rear fairing, scratched my clutch lever, broke front turn signal, and bent my bars about 1”.

A bit of damage but nothing expensive, ordered everything and the bars were the most expensive part.

The new bars are protaper ATV mids and allowed me to move my mirror out to the end to be more effective. Really like them so far.

Pulled the Grom out today for the first time in about a month. We have had a pretty mild winter and the last time I rode it was arond Dec 6-7th and then the cold and ice set in. The last few days have been fairly warm and melted 98% of the ice off the roads which allowed me to ride today. The ride was probably close to 45* and was warm enough for a long sleeve shirt and a hoodie. Nothing to exciting just ran to walmart to grab a few things and back home about a 8 mile round trip. Hopefully I get more warm days in the coming weeks so I can break out the bike and ride to class when I get back to college
