Strange Rotational Noise

Gentlemen, I need some assistance with an unknown problem.

I've noticed over the past couple days that I've been getting a bit of a vibration and noise from what I think is the front passenger side tire. Prior to the vibration, I thought I was getting a little bit of noise from that same area whenever I went to turn.

Today however, it seems to have certainly gotten worse as there is now a pretty noticeable wobble at around 45 and a fairly audible noise. It almost seemed as if I had a flat tire, that's how noticeable it was. I know I've needed to balance my tires for a while now, and I've been needing to replace the brakes too. But what would be causing this? It gets worse the faster I go, and it's getting really noticeable in the steering wheel.

I'm about to jack up the front end right now and shake the wheels around to see if it's a bearing or something. I'll update after I do that.

If you are having repeated issues with sheered studs pay very close attention to torque specs on the nuts. Repeated over torquing will weaken them and make them brittle.

I think you're completely correct. Luckily this is fairly straightforward to fix and my wife and I can shift our schedules around to not use my Xterra until I can take it in

All done from the mechanic and everything is perfect again. I'm glad I didn't tackle it myself because it was a lot more intensive than I was expecting. He replaced both rotors and all the lug studs and lug nuts on the side where the 3 sheered off. He inspected and repacked the bearings and installed my stainless steel brake lines as well. Yeah, the labor costs were more than doing it myself, but it took him a solid 2 hours of work to finish it all up (with his full compliment of tools and knowledge) where as it would've taken me at least a full day, probably 3.

All in all, it stops like a sports car now, and this has been LONG overdue.

Sooooo, truck is fine and has been fine since I had the brakes installed. No issues or problems.

My wife gets in my truck to go to work (hers is a 1 mile drive as opposed to mine) and she says the ABS, VDC, and slip light are on... She leaves work, no lights, then goes to hit the brakes, and they all come on again.

Now, I've had this happen before I think when my battery was taking a crap, but it's a new battery I got a few months ago and no issues from that.

Any ideas?

I drove it last night, 2 cycles of on and off and no lights on the dash. I get in this morning, and BRAKE, SLIP, and VDC off lights are on. Turned the truck off and on at a couple of red lights and the lights on the dash are still there. There is no loss in performance or braking ability.

It's been getting cold here in the mornings, and I think it has something to do with that. Regardless, my mechanic warranties his work so I'm not worried about that. It's just odd

The sensors aren't particularly cheap. I'd crawl under there and check them all first.

Will do. I have a strong feeling that maybe something wasn't connected properly or put back correctly when he did the brakes. I'll poke around and double check if it's anything really obvious, but I have to go back there anyways before the end of the month so I'll have him double check it too
