Older Radflo coilovers

So I got a call from Radflo today about the rebuild on my 2nd hand (or 3rd hand) coilovers that I sent in for refurb.

The guy informed me that when PRG originally had these built the lower bolt was sized at ½" as opposed to the stock bolt size of 14mm. As a result you had to torque the hell out of it, otherwise it would clunk since a half inch is 1.3mm smaller than the stock bolt.

Any insight or solutions to this?

Thanks.

I asked and he said it would require a different base which would be longer and wouldn't work because it would make the shock so long.

I got nothing then. You ask over on the other site? Or ask Mike what bolt he used?

sent from a crawlspace...

there has to be something that you can sleeve it with, not from them of course, but you may have good luck making one.

So the issue is that the hole in the shock is ½" but the hole in the arm is 14mm. So the metal bushing in the shock would have to be bored out to accept a 14mm bolt. But it's my understanding that it's not just a bushing, but a bearing. And because of that boring it out becomes difficult.

A little time with a drill and a dremmel should be all that it needs. making holes bigger is a lot easier than making them smaller. is it truly a bearing, and not a bushing,

If that is the case you should be able to press out the bearing and find a bronze bushing that you can make work.

Mine are due for rebuild too so I'll be asking them about this too when I send them off. Prime, if you don't mind me asking, how much is Radflo charging you to rebuild?
