hey guys i'm swapping out my rear axle for a Chevy 3/4 ton that has been converted to disc brakes. As far as an E-Brake what are you guys using? read different places about using a line lock but i'm not so sure as how it would affect the seals. im assuming if they were to go itd be a slow leak. as far as a TC brake is there anything available for ours?

So most disc brake rear axles have one of two kinds of e-brake. There's either a drum brake under the hat of the disc or the caliper has a tap for the mechanical line to hold pressure on the caliper.

thanx guys. ive looked around and most recommend the mechanical line locker. uses the normal parking brake pedal that actuates a hydraulic actuator that then operates the calipers. in any case i havent found much as far as a TC brake.

Depends on what they used to convert it to disks with. Prime is mostly correct, though the caliper can have an arm on it to be pulled by the parking brake cable as well.

That's what I was trying to say. The cable pulls the arm which compresses the fluid in the caliper.

I chose to run a line lock on mine but won't use it for extended periods of time. The El dorado calipers have the parking brake provision and fit most disc brake conversions. I chose to go with the non parking brake version mainly for cost

Which line lock did you use? I have two lines going to both calipers at the moment and am wondering if I should just drop a single line down to the rear axle from the MC.

I used the B&M line lock, I mounted it up by the master cyl so I just have the one line running through it.
