Now that I have most of my pictures from my old computer.. I guess I can make one of these.

Well it all started off in March of 2009, with this bone stock 2004 XE

315092.jpg

315097.jpg

Then after adding stickers, my first mod was the Yakima LoadWarrior

32309.jpg

I decided to test out what the X could do, and took it out to a developing residential community (still in the clearing and planning stages) and needless to say, I was never stuck, even though I went through a mud lake..)

42509.jpg

However on the way back in, it started to get dark, and it became hard to wheel so right after that trip I bought a custom light bar and 4 Hella 500's from a member on XOC (Dead Forum)

At this point funds ran dry, being in highschool and not being able to have a job all year means funds dry up.. but I did take a cool Night shot in the snow..

Then I went through an audio fling, I bought a Kenwood DPX-503 Double DIN and put Kenwoods in the front and Pioneers in the back. Later I added 2 Kicker 12" L7's with a 2000 watt amp. After breaking somethings in my car, I dropped down to a single JL Audio 12W6V2 and a 800W Kenwood amp. I don't have any pictures of these, but both were obnoxiously loud.

Later on I started to do the freebie mods, removing step rails, mud flaps, rear sway bar, and resonator/baffles.

xterrashots1109001.jpg

(This was testing out the new flex)

About 2 months after this, I bought some new tires, a set of 265/75/16 Kuhmo Road Venture AT's. I love these tires. I can take them anywhere, and they get me through everything.

The next mod was to add some storage, so I made a LOBO. I also made it so I could lay it down, as pictured in the second picture.

I have recently installed a Cobra 25 WX NW ST, CB radio and a PA horn to go with it. I have a 3 ft' Firefly antenna, with a medium duty spring and a antenna mount that is right above my driver side taillight.

At some point here I painted the plastics and tinted my taillights.. I am not sure where that goes in here, so I will just insert it here.

The most two recent mods are the Fink Wink Mirror Mod, and I made a custom gear shifter-knob out of a surplus grenade.

This is the most recent off-road trip. I went on a trail with my dad up on the Blue Ridge Parkway, heading out to Shining Rock.

I didn't reserve any threads either cause I just add the newest information to the latest area so it is easier for people to see whats new.

Nice start on the X sir...things in life take time but just be patient, think about what you want to do and plan ahead. Don't rush into anything cause that is when you make mistakes or waste time and money.

Enjoy the ride.

I am normally one who plans things out, but thanks for the advice. I want to do things to the X, to get it where I want it. But it is certain limitations I have. I know I should wait, but the thrill of doing it now appeals to me. Also, in order to do anything major to the X, I have to take over the X from my parents, insurance, mechanical work, everything. So when that happens, then mods should slowly start to make it on to my X. Taking over the X, implies that I have a solid job with decent income.

But I plan to enjoy the ride, regardless of where it goes

Thanks man, I really want to get on the mod train, but money and parental restriction are slowing me. I can understand why, but I hate to see my rig sit at stock height..

I love you're idea for the lobo. I have a one as well but it's hung by carabiners. I think this weekend I may switch mine to look like yours. I like that if needed you can drop it down or remove it quickly. Awesome idea!

Cool... I like the fuse cover idea. Gives it a stronger access panel look for the utilitarian theme.

I always wanted to try a set of those Kumos.

Thanks Jmac. I am not too worried about it getting dirty. I also plan on doing what Emily did and paint/dye my seats over the summer.. those WONT be white, those would get too dirty

Bought some rustoleum bedliner the other day.. trying to figure out what to paint with it. I am thinking the plastics inside the X? like the back plastics..

I wouldn't paint anything with bedliner if you're planning on touching it. I was going to spray all my exterior plastics with it (door handles too) but when I felt it, I instantly had that "oooh, no" moment. Luckily it was only on my bumper at the time.

I was thinking the back plastics.. like in the cargo area.. and I plan on doing the bumpers.. I know that those need to be redone

I think the back plastics in the cargo area would be pretty cool! Like the plastic that covers the rear speakers. If you did the lower half and left the top half...just my 2 cents.

You read my mind, I was thinking about the lower plastics and for the back speakers I plan on putting toothpicks through the holes, and then pulling those out afterwards.. or I might just cut the speaker holes out..I don't know..

OR

I might just paint all the plastics on the inside.. but not the ones that your arms would be in contact with.. like anything on the doors...

Yanked an alternator out a Quest today, planning on putting it in tomorrow. And if the weather stays nice, I am going to repaint my plastics.. if not, that will be done later this week.

I also took the lower plastic bumper off, for more clearance.

Woohoo! Well, that is all for May 16th of 2012, other than I did pull all my stickers off.. making some people sad (Facebook status told everyone, and after a few messages I realized no one will know "My Xterra" anymore.. oh well, their loss)

Well, we almost had a tree from our yard fall on a neighbors house.. So there are bigger fish to fry at this point. Any who, I agree, that it is all easy to undo. Granted, I have done some things to the X, that cannot be undone. And this weekend I planned on copping the sides off of the front metal bumper (Where the plastic attached, and well it looks like hell now, but with it trimmed up it will look better) but that won't happen because I am going to be chopping wood for quite some time.

I like the center console, but I know I'd be smashing my elbow into the corner of that thing daily. How you likin' it so far?

I used to have a smaller tin, I think it was a 7.62 tin, PERFECT size for this but I cannot for the life of me figure out what I did with it. It got lost in a move, I may have left it in my old apartment, or it may have been "stolen". Right now I've just got two mortar tins, they're a little too big for this, lol.

After wheeling today, I have yet to hit my elbows on this.. A few rib shots, but nothing I can't handle.

But so far I love it. It's nice, both arms are at the same height, nice for cruising and lounging

That is one use for ammo containers I never thought of...crazy but kind of kool idea sir.

Thanks you sir. I love it. It takes a bit yo get used to, but I'm a big guy, and it is nice to have both arms at the same level..

In other news, it seems as if plans to lift the X are starting to come together. I have been talking to Dave about it.

I am planning on running a 3 in suspension lift (skipping pml). I have kinda a clue what I want to do, but I'm also up for suggestions.

So if you think you know what I should get, parts, places, all that jazz.. Now is the time to chime in :D

Sweet finally time for a lift!

Thats one thing I have never looked into is how to complete the 3" suspension lift so I'm not much of a help here.

I have come up with a few routes for the lift that I want to look into, including a route that has revolver shackles.. That is what I am leaning towards. The increased travel would be nice, but then again.. anything past stock would be nice.

Right now, this is what I would like to have.

The AAL from 4x4parts, revolver shackles, stainless steel brake lines, Bilstein heavy duty long travel shocks for the back, and heavy duty for the front, SLR UCAs for stage 1-3 (I am talking to a member on another forum about these). Then going with SAW torsion bars. When I step up to 33's, I will run the 2" BL, and in upgrading steering, I will go TC IAB, Bandit bushing, New Moog Centerlink (seeing how I don't think Grassroots is making any more centerlinks), AC HD tra's, Deeza NI-T602 Inner Tie rods, Deeza NI-T618 Outer Tie rod.

I was not sure about what I wanted to do in the manner of TRAs and TREs, however after reading the "Steering Setups" thread I went over Luke's (xterror04) post, and after looking it up, I really like this option. But then again, I don't know much about the Tie rods and what I should get in that market. So I am open to suggestions here.

The same guy that I am talking to about the UCAs also is selling a set of skids and sliders. If that falls through, I am going to have some sliders fabbed up before nXm. I would like to have the skids as well but that may not happen. I am also in the market for new wheels and tires, but in order for that to happen, I need the BL, and I would like to have .. alright I would like to have it all at once.

So it will be a slow process as I have to decide what I want.. first.

Just curious, have you come up with a price of all the steering components you will need to peice it together like you are talking about?
