So, I've been down this road with tires and wheels...and trying to get the right combo. I had a set of 33x12.5x20" with a 4"back space on the rim. These did not work! I think it was the 4" back space more than anything but I don't know. I'm now looking to get a custom rims made that are 15"x9, 6 on 5.5, with 5.5 in BS. With that rim I was thinking a BFG K/O 32x11.5x15 tire? Is anyone running this combo? If so can you post a picture?

I have a PML and a 2" BL on the truck now. I wish I didn't have the 17" rims, I just can't seem to fine a good option for them.

You can run a 4.75bs with minimal trimming.
5.0bs looks pretty good too..

Watch out for rim width and back spacing.. The wider the rim the more issues with back spacing.

So, a 15x9 with 5 inch BS with a 32x11.5x15 tire and NO sheet metal trimming only plastic right? Keep in mind I wheel this X.

I say go 3.75bs. Running 32x11.5's you should be just fine as far as the metal is concerned. The plastics up front for the mud flaps may have to be removed tho....

With 33s and OE wheels with 5.5" BS I ended up having to install 1½“ spacers in the rear to keep the tires from rubbing the frame at full flex. So that took it down to 4" BS. In the front I installed 1¼" spacers for an effective backspacing of 4¼" in the front. Even then I had to trim the metal all the way back to the tub on both fenders in the front.

Dave is right though. You go too wide on the rim, all the backspacing in the world can't save you.

Well, I just ordered 5 of these. The order was for a 15x10, 5" BS and 6 on 5.5 with a 4" center bore. I think I will paint them gun metal gray! The tires are going to be 32x11.5x15 BFG's ko2's O I also ordered a rear tire carrier! And now I wait for up to two months for them to be delivered. Its going to be a long 2 month20160427_171454.jpg

hope you don't regret that... 10" wide rim is too much for the Xterra 8" max! you will still be out 2" past the fenders

7 wide is factory on the 15" and 16" rims so "if" you did a 8" wide rim at the 5.5 bs you would sit out past the fender. Now add negative back spacing say 4.75 with the 8 wide rim and it's about 2" past the fender.

I have what they call a super charger wheel. Its a 17"x 8" rim. I don't know maybe I'll just back it down to a 9" I've been doing some reading and the 11.5 looks good on a 9"

Welcome to XN. That's a clean looking truck. Post up in the welcome section and consider making a build thread for your progress.

To directly address your question, what are you looking to do long term with the truck?

Attached are a couple of pictures of my rims and tires I ended up with. They fit good with just a little rub when I'm turning really sharp. The rims are 15x10 with a 5" BS, the tires are 32x11.5x15. This combo works out good. I did however have to add a 1/4" spacer because the rims I have have a flat face and they were hitting the brake caliper. So my BS becomes 4 3/4" instead of 5".

Thanks for all the help this has been a real pain in the a@@.

Update, I was able to remove the 1/4" spacers by "shaving" my brake calipers. For the good, bad or indifferent I don't know. What i do know is that no one would touch my tires and rims because of the spacers. I'm just to lazy to rotate and balance tires myself so the spacers had to go
