Welcome to my build. I bought my Xterra in 2005 with 25,000 miles. Fast forward almost six years and the mod bug finally infested my brain. These are the results of this incurable condition......

As it sits today 7/27/12 with 66,000 miles

Yeah I ran just an AAL for a long time but I just put on the shackle to see how I like it for a while, plus to get that little extra clearance from the tire and fender and the hitch to the ground. I kind of like the way it looks now a little better than before cause I believe the AAL had settle down and everyone seemed to think the front was higher than the rear...but still undecided at this time.

Looking forward to seeing more of your X man...I know you did a lot of work a while back in another thread.

I see you went with the 2 color bumper :) Those tubes let you make the bumper all its own... James builds a great one.. And I didnt know if I would like the plain bumper with no hoops..
But I have to say it looks very good man...

nice bumper....question, if you installed a winch, it'd sit below that bar right? could you mount your front plate from the bar down to the plate?

It will sit below the top tube.. The bumper has a winch plate built in

right, I'm asking though, if you had a winch installed, and are in a state that requires front plates, could you run from the bar to the plate metal of the bumper for the license plate mount?

Yeah, I guess if you have to have a plate but also have a winch you could always use the lower bolt holes of the plate to mount it up or just zip tie it to the bar.
Ive also seen someone with the license plate on a hinge setup covering the winch.

I think that is what your talking about right dhyde?

I didn't understand your plate deal till now.. They make brackets that attach to the rollers- clips on.. Look on 4wd.com

that's pretty close, I'm wondering how hard it'd be to mount the front plate so that it covers the gap between the bar and where the solid part of the bumper is, or if it's a smaller gap than a license plate and you could just drill n tap some screw holes to hold the plate.

Thanks everyone for the good words! I've worked hard on it so far and have been saving a LONG time to do all these mods at once. I knew what I wanted I just couldn't make it happen until my warranty expired. Now that I finally own it and I'm saving close to $450 a month in car payments, I can justify (at least to myself) all the mods. (start group hug) If it weren't for you guys and gals it wouldn't be anywhere near what your looking at now. (end group hug)

Thanks man, I totally stole the idea from you. I didn't want one solid color, and I tossed around using some blue but I like how it turned out.

That is actually what I was thinking of doing.

I tapped the holes to 1/4-20 to hold the plate where it is. I like the spring loaded hinge idea for my plate. I'm still trying to find a winch that is right for me, I don't want to spend a ton but I don't want something I have to worry about either.

I can't believe I haven't commented on this thing yet....I'm slackin for sure!

Love the bumper, love the sunroof/switch panel even more. Seriously, I want one. If you ever decide to make another, I'll donate my panel to you.

Loving the touches you are adding to your x! It is giving off this clean line "should have came from the factory like that" look imo.

The X looks good man, really makes me want a new rear bumper with that lovely tire carrier. Do you have many places to wheel in MA?
