Just checking in here guys. I was an active duty Marine from 2005 through 2010. Started out as a 2621 which is a Signals Intelligence Analyst and ended up using that MOS to become a Radio Reconnaissance Marine which means I kept the same 2621 MOS but also gained the title Marine Recon. Did 3 deployments on the recon side, one combat deployment to afghanistan, a regular "float" with a Marine Expeditionary Unit in the European theater and then did a 3 month stint in Haiti right before i got out doing the earthquake relief stuff.

Glad to see other vets and active service members checking in here! Hopefully this board grows with time!:)

Airborne! Glad to be part of the Xnation and more importantly part of the Military for our Nation.

Currently serving at Fort Knox KY.

ymbhonk I'm over at HRC. You with 3rd ESC?

Did my Basic at Jackson back when I was enlisted, Knox for my OBC after I commissioned and Jackson again for CPT's Career Course when I changed branches. Graduated from CGSC in 2010 and ended up back at Knox when HRC moved from Alexandria.

Anybody know which Army Reserve units have been put on alert? Believe some in NC have been put on Alert status because of this Gaza crap.

Man totally spaced on this section of the page. Army from 2004 to 2012, 25U did my basic at Ft Benning, trained as a dope on the rope once I got to Ft Campbell. Dropped down to National Guard status so I can go to college.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there is much activity here. My name is Mathew Hall and I was an 11B Airborne Infantryman in 2001 and 2002. My service ended early due to disability. I fractured 5 vertebrae on a jump gone bad. I am now sending my son to Basic Training on Sept. 19th. Full circle.

No, at the time I was on TDY with the 3rd I.D. at t. Benning and jumped at an Air Show. My official unit was 1/509th @ Ft. Polk LA GERONIMO!

Sorry to hear about the bad landing.

I medically dropped out of airborne school due to an absolutely destroyed right shoulder. Still got 16 jumps in total, 3 of which were into....shall we say "dangerous drop zones"

Worst jump was the first of the three, my gear was a separate cargo chute and it didn't fully open, so, stupidly, I tried to untangle it before I was below safe height. It was a painful landing, no permanent damage...

My Rucksack wouldn't separate so I couldn't put my feet and knees together. Basically, when I hit one leg stayed straight while the other one buckled and with the impact as well as torsion, my lumbar vertebrae didn't stand a chance.

Ouch... My unhappy one resulted in me popping my reserve below 800' thankfully **all** of my gear was on that separate drop. (Hence the immense need to correct the chute on it)

I hit hard enough that it winded me, and I was blurry visioned for about 20 minutes...

I thought I was paralyzed when I hit. I couldn't reach up to detach from my chute and got dragged. It was bad for me, but I can't imagine what the kids that were spectators thought about what their Daddy does on a regular basis.

I think I'd have hated spectator jumping...the only reason I did any jumps after airborne school was at the personal request of a 4 star whose name won't be used, for many reasons. He did plenty to keep my ass alive and in excellent shape, and got me out of tdy taps when i told him i needed out, so, I'd do about anything for him.

Oh, I thought I was going to be one of those highspeed guys that never missed an opportunity to jump. Got placed with an 11M unit so I jumped at the opportunity when it came up. I wanted to be one of those guys with over 100 jumps and at least 1 combat jump. Call it youthful ignorance.

I was a 25Q from 2006 to 2011, got medically retired in 2011. Went to Iraq, never got to go to Afghanistan, unfortunately. When I enlisted I was eager to go to AFG, so it would make sense that where I wanted to be deployed to I didn't go, same as my assignment, Fort Hood was one of the last places I wanted to go, and the Army loved me so much they canceled my orders to Germany a week before I was supposed to start clearing Fort Gordon, replacement assignment; Fort Hood. Oh how I hate Killeen and "The Great Place", there is nothing great about Fort Hood.
