My Xterra is a 2010 Night Armor 4x4. I sold my 2006 Mustang in order to buy it and really had a lot of reasons to do so. The biggest thing for me was owning a fast car that I couldn't drive fast legally. Let's face it, 75mph highways were as good as it was going to get legally. Second I couldn't USE my mustang for anything. Sure it was fun to drive and looked cool, but the utility was next to zero. Lastly I couldn't use it whenever I have kids. The breaking point was when I was helping a friend load their kiddo and their car seat into the back of my stang. That was NO fun and at that point I decided I was going to get some good pics and list it on craigslist.

First thing I did was Axe the running boards and go play in the Oklahoma mud. I payed for playing in the mud. For the hour and a half I spent mudding I cleaned mud for 4 and a half.

After that I made a trip to the mountains to take a "stock photo" style picture haha.

My first real mods started when it began to get close to the arrival of my Hefty front bumper.
I decided to paint my grill with this textured paint I found at O'Reilleys.

First a buddy of mine and I scratched up the grill with a sanding block and then hit it with some primer before painting it with the textured paint.

I decided to run with an idea I saw on someone elses build. I followed his model but I totally went out on a limb with my own measurements. So I made the X-Bed.

I added a first aid kit. You may have seen these at Wal-Mart but I especially liked it because my name is Justin and this is just clever.

I rigged up my CamelBak for quick drinking on the go.

I also bought a Skeeter Beater to leave my windows open on camping trips.
STH71727.jpg

My added hp *decals*

I did the Surf and Snow Better, Beefier tie downs for the back.

STH71734.jpg

STH71737.jpg

I got my WeatherTech stuff over the past few days and finally got it all installed. It looks awesome.

Getting my Hefty front bumper was excited and stressful all at the same time, but well worth it in the end.

Here's the bumper all wrapped up like a Christmas present!

Here's the close to bare front, there are some plastic pieces on there in this pic that I removed later. And the stupid little metal clips, take those off for sure.

And here it is finished.

Here's my posed pic in Creede, CO.

So this is how it sits today.

I was able to meet up with some awesome people in Oklahoma at a small meet in OKC. We correctly put my bumper on and I purchased the Hella 500FF's and door nets.

I had also been playing a little bit of Gears of War 3 and was inspired by the opening sequence to do this.

My battery crapped out on me for the last time so I bought a yellow top Duralast battery with an 8 year warranty and 3 year free replacement.

Thanks for the good luck man. I guess my biggest problem tonight was taking those steps for the first time. It took me a little while to get the courage to cut into the firewall and all of that stuff. The wireless setup isn't going to be easy. dhyde79 from thenewx helped me over the phone a little. We brainstormed on the wireless setup and I'm going to try and get it working with one last ditch effort. He has the same switch but he's got bigger plans for it that won't work after he started researching it a little more. All in all I'm out like $13 on it if I can't get it to work.

PICS That's what people like so without further ado:

Sweet dude, GL on that project. Are you going to wire up a manual switch as well? Just in case battey is dead?

What brand is that remote start? Doesnt sound too hard, what snaggs are you facing?

I think the remote start is an awesome Idea, and a great price too. I will be keeping an eye on this mod. Oh, good lookin X bro, I have always liked the HF bumpers.

Thanks guys! dhyde79 pointed out to me I may be able to splice the wire running between the switch and power to make the wireless switch work. I'll still have all of the manual switch wired up though. If this falls through I'll be getting an OTRATTW switch and finishing it out that way.

Ok, so I went out and tried to take off the bolts to put that hitch on. Well there's no way in heck I'm getting those bolts off without a little persuasion. Any advice? Heat? PB Blaster? And I guess I'm in need of one more bolt as well as some washers. Anybody know the size of those bolts? The metric 19 socket fit it.

pb blaster, lots of it. I soaked mine every night for a week before putting my hitch on. i also used a big arse cheater pipe to get some extra torque on the bolts. i vaguely remember a 19mm socket

Ok, so PB Blaster it is. I had my dad over to watch the football game the other night and he said he'd find a cheater pipe at his place and we'd get it done. I think the 19mm is what I ended up finding that fit too. I'm just gonna take that socket to the parts store and find a bolt that will work with it.

Yeah, PB Blaster and a breaker bar works perfect. If you can't find the right bolts, let me know... I may have a couple extra in the "removed parts" pile.

Sounds good to me man, thanks.

My dad is coming by today to help me with our heater and maybe he'll feel up to working on that hitch afterwards. If we can't find bolts I'll let you know for when we head to Lawton next week.

Well my dad came over to help me on another project today and afterwards we tackled my hitch. We did it without any PB Blaster. Strictly boots, some big kicks, and a BFH! We did end up setting the bumper up on its end and hitting both ends with a sledge hammer to make it fit easier.

And thanks to OKXterra and MississippiGal I've got an AAL to start of my suspension lift :D bought it off of them yesterday after we had a beer and hung out. Finally got to see the Fronty in person too.
