24v inverter for light bar

I have recently bought a couple of cheap led lights for my truck. I got bored the other night and took them outside with a couple of drill batteries I have to see how bright they are. The lights say they will work with anything from 9-30v dc so I grabbed a 12v, an 18v, and then put two 12v in series for 24v. As expected the higher the voltage the brighter the light. this got me wondering about picking up some 24v inverters on amazon and hooking them up with a relay so I could run either 12v or 24v to the lights. Anybody ever tried this before, or have any input.

Sounds interesting. Kind of like brightness control. If you had a DC-DC converter and could step it all the way from 9-24 that'd be pretty cool.

Vision X makes a variable output control, so you can just dial up the brightness, etc.
