2nd pic is after I had a local shop do some unwelding and re-welding. The bodywork and headlights were pretty much sitting on it, which was causing this to happen:

^Ditto!

Well, does me going to a fab yesterday and getting a quote and measurements count for a custom front bumper? Won't have it till Jan-Feb (when I have more money to pay for it). But at least it is ready to be made any moment, haha!

Good idea for a thread. Love looking at what others have done for their bumpers.

Tube!

Which brings up a question about yours- are those Hella FF lights you are using in place of fogs? And are they simply mounted on the tubing of your bumper? How do you like that set up?

Yes they are FF 75's. I like the beam pattern and have them aimed just below the head lights. There are tabs welded to the tube to mount them and I wired them to the factory plugs so they work like the factory fogs.

I'm thinking of filling the space with something and mounting the factory fogs in their place but haven't decided how I'm going do it yet.

Thinking of filling it with plate? Kind of like what maxterra has? I really like his design a lot, too. Either way, yours is still BA IMO. :)

Looks good, xearth! I've been trading some e-mails w/ RLC about doing a rear for my 2nd gen - we'll see what transpires.

Say, what kind of light bar are you using for those Hella's up top? I like the look!! How's your hood glare, tho, with those being that close to the edge of the windshield?

Thank you, I appreciate it!

1. The light bar is just a piece of angle iron screwed to an L bracket with a brace going back to the roof rack.

The extra brace on each side is what keeps the lights from bouncing around at all either on or off road

2. The glare isn't bad, that was my big concern putting them there, but I've ran them at night, and you know they're on, but as long as the lights are point up slightly and not straight down you can barely tell.

I had a tube bumper and wanted a winch so I bought a RockyMtnX winch mount and had them put together. I got an Engo 10,000lb winch with synthetic rope. The winch mount fit perfectly between the upright tubes of my bumper. With a little cutting and welding this is the result.

still need to make a skid for the bottom of the mount down to the rad skid and repaint.

Maxterra, hands down yours is the most awesome bumper ever! It is the inspiration for mine but no way am I going to try and duplicate it.

Thanks all.
Thinking of building myself another rear one to match the front... Tube and dimpled plate, yeah! Longer swingarm for jerrycan fit too.

Think so...
Looked at it before and got discouraged due to all the sheet metal, evap can, etc thats in the way.
Just gotta male the mounts/supports adjsutable for a future BL if I add that to the TS.

Gotta get working on a plate-type prototype soon myself.
Have some good ideas, but just gotta make it happen.
Already have a couple of willing donor vehicles waiting so I don't have to tear mine down again.

Can you say dimple-die'd?

Skid plate, gussets for the mounting brackets, recovery points and a secret finishing touch and she'll be done. Sorry for crappy iphone pics...
