Agreed. I'm wondering how well a 2wd powered by a QR25 would sell. 4cyl was an option in the 1st gens

That's why I said 2wd only. It may not have sold well, hence dropping the option in the Gen 2

What do you have against a 6sp manual? You get another overdrive which helps a LOT at highway speeds.

Even now when I get on the interstate I keep trying to go to my imaginary 6th gear.

I've never driven a 6mt, so I wasn't sure about the 'comfort' of it. Last mt I drove was a 5sp box truck. 1st was a joke so I almost always started off in 2nd

UD1500. That makes it a Nissan box truck

I don't think it would be a crazy dream though. If they stay true to offroad power they will have to find a way to remain fuel efficient to sell to the majority of their consumer base. No one wants to buy a 14 mpg off roading beast with gas at 4 bucks a gallon. For a lot of us a majority I would argue use this as our daily, personally I have seriously been thinking about getting a different car because of the ****ty gas mileage. But then I look at her face and I just can't.

I'd like an aggressive body style just in case that point hadn't got across. That's really what I'd be worried most about getting changed. The Mustang transformed from a boxy, aggressive, muscle bound car into a sissified, smooth lined, cheap piece of junk it was changed into during the 80s and nineties. It wasn't until they realized the aggressive body style was what was needed to bring back the sales that Ford really needed.

Just throwing this out there...

1-For us "bigger and taller" drivers: longer seat rails.
2-Provide more optional and individual accessories that owners purchase through Off Road aftermarket dealers like, but not limited to:
body lifts, specific gearing, HD suspension, real skids and sliders, front/rear bumpers w/ tire carriers. Things that would have the "Nissan" or "Xterra" name visible on it.

That would be a great idea!

A body lift option would never happen from the manufacturer. And I can't really see bumpers. But an option to have factory skids would be awesome and completely doable.

I've seen some overseas markets offer skids, sliders, snorkle and bumpers as dealer options on the Navara/Frontier. I'm sure the bumpers would never be a U.S. market option but everything else seems possible, especially if they used strong but light weight materials.

The Xterra has been a Patch from day 1. Nissan changed the Pathfinder to be a "soccer mom" "grocery getter" the same thing everyone else was building in the late 90's with the R50. (Funny how they just did it again...) They abandoned the younger outgoing crowd to deliver groceries.. They then took the old Pathfinder frame (WD21) and put a new body on it (WD22) to make the Xterra. Trying to fix the mess...This is a bad circle of yuck!

In my opinion.. the new Pathfinder should be called the Murano XL. The new Pathfinder should instead be the baseline "Xterra" and if it has an "offroad" package called the Xterra. Kinda like the "Wrangler" upgraded to the "Rubicon".

Now call me crazy... but why not put a High Pinion Dana 44 in the "Xterra package". A 10 grand upgrade with 4:1 tcase and solid axle as part of the package. And if the baseline Pathfinder folks want to sas... here is the NISMO kit to do so...

This is however too much to ask.. this is the company that "pussified" the Nissan Patrol of all things...
