I have a couple of Jeep fanatics where I work. I always enjoy pointing out that you UPGRADED from a Wrongler to a 2wd Xterra.

Ups truck came at about 7:30 and I didn't get around to opening it until after 8. I put it on, (the roof rack screws then realized it goes on the wind fairing screws :) ) it looks sweet!! But it was to dark to see anything in the picture! I'll either snap a pic in the morning or after school! Thanks again Dave!

Im dieing to get them wired up and working! I cant do it this weekend or the next so it may be a bit, but I do love the look!
As for my next mod im not sure...im a broke student haha. But whenever I get free time im going to lower the front end back down some cause its like riding a hourse over a speed bump or pot hole. So thats going to cost me $40 for the new alignment (my current one is even off)

May I suggest a lifetime alignment? They are expensive but you will only need to pay it once. I am regretting not buying it last time I got an alignment, I did my PML about 2 months after getting it aligned. If I remember correctly, its somewhere around the cost of 2 alignments, maybe less.

I'd love to be able to spend the money for a lifetime alignment but I can't use that much money right now lol I know that sounds crazy. I'm going to get it aligned at a hole in the wall country shop. Only charges $40 and you get a free tire rotation. I normally go to the firestonedealer were I got my tires but they are like $79 for one time and $150 for lifetime I think

Just a little bump to show off my sorta of build Xterra :) I finally got off my butt and applied for a job at harbor freight tools, If I get this job its almost a guarantee my hole pay check will be going into the X, or another route I may take. I am not sure of which route Im going to take so there for I'm going to keep to myself about all this cause I don't like saying one thing and doing another. But change will be coming in some type of way IF I get the job. Oh and Ill get a discount on all store items!! YES!

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed harbor freight works out!

Lol thanks! Didn't get a call back from harbor freight but I have a summer job Im pretty much promised to me that makes bank.

I really need to get it off road again! Haven't since may at woolys! Well besides the small spot on my adventure thread.

Edit: Xearth: I went into the store talked to the manager and called another day. They never said a word but still have the sign up...the job is cashier/ stocking so I don't see how I'm not "qualified"...

Update: Got the antenna mount fixed and I now have a swr meter, I'm just waiting for another 1 ft coaxial cable in the mail to tune it. My lights will be wired up probably next weekend.
I have decided to save myself the headache of convincing, selling, & finding a new X. I have a AMAZING xterra right now and its been a very reliable vehicle so its in for the long hall. With the combination of lots of graduation money, a great paying summer job and some other factors I'm going to look into converting it to 4x4 by using used parts off of wrecked xterra's, and then turning around and selling my used parts to make up some of the $$$$.
I also have a power steering hose leaking that needs to be fixed.

Stock IFS 4x4 would be cheaper...I know SAS makes more sense but its also more $$

Mechpatt is in the process of buying all the goodies for his conversion to stock 4x4...so ill be watching his

I'm considering a SAS at the end of this coming summer...

But you didn't hear that from me.

Or trade it in for a 4x4? Overall, its a nice X man.

Thanks!
Thats what I was looking at...here is my 2 cents.

My X is in great running condition besides a leaking power steering hose, it has new timing belt, water pump, valve covers, head gaskets, tires, and low miles. I just can't trade it after all the $ I have spent on it. I have also owned 2 vehicles both of which had to go to the shop within the first 6 months for head gasket reapers and things. Now that I have all that out of the way I don't want to do it again.

Quite understandable. Leaky power steering hose is a common issue with 1st gens and I had that issue on my 2001 and I fixed it by tightening the clamps on both ends and haven't had any leaks since so that worked.

Aaron, I really don't think it will be much more to do a SAS over the IFS and you will be much more offroad capable in the end for a just a little more money but, it is your vehicle and your money I was just thinking if it was me cause I have an IFS and have spent quite a bit of money to get it were it is now to be able to get it tough enough to go offroad without breaking things like has happened already with all the stock stuff and if I could do it all over I would not beef up my IFS but rather do a SAS. It takes a little more then just bolt on mods but as always...the easy way is not always the best way. If you don't wheel hard then an IFS would be fine but if you get into some sticky situations you will have to go around them if possible and I don't like being restricted like I' am now, and I don't even wheel that hard myself.

Gotta agree with him....before I sold my 2001, I had plans to take it to Richard to get a SAS done within a year but I sold it so I never got around to do the SAS plans. Calmini has a SAS kit, all you need is a axle.

Not to hijack the thread, but you also need the front drive shaft and coilovers as well as rear axle parts to either SOA or go with a whole new setup. The rear is pretty easy compared to the front. Since he (as well as I) is 2wd, you will also need a new Tcase and a rear drive shaft, which is usually custom made for SASs anyway.
