Xterra Sightings on the big screen?

I thought this would be a fun thread to get started. I know most of you are probably like me in the sense that you notice Xterra's everywhere...at the mall...passing by on the streets...and best of all: in the background of TV shows and movies!

Nothing is better than jumping up off the couch, confusing everyone else, just to rewind and re-play in slow motion so you can point out that distinctive Xterra hatch bulge in the corner of the screen that no one else caught. I even have my wife playing along now!

So: have you seen any Xterras in TV shows or movies? Grab a screen shot if you can and let us know where you found it!

I am starting off with Law and Order Season 14 Episode 7 ("Floater"). During a discussion on the sidewalk, you can see a blue Xterra drive by in the background. It takes a quick eye, but I must give credit to my wife for this one. I would have seen it, but I wasn't actually watching the show with her. She was the one to rewind and call me in to the living room to see her findings!

I've seen another one in the background of Property Brothers on HG TV. Silver 2nd gen. It is when they are doing some stock footage of the city they are in, and you can see the back of the Xterra is it drives up a hill (on road hill, of course). I didn't get the details of that one, though

Cool idea!

This "sighting" has been my favorite so far. It's from The Office "Did I stutter" episode (season 4, episode 12 (on Netflix)). Brief synopsis, Andy ends up selling his Xterra to Dwight, who then flips it for profit.

Here's a Youtube clip from the episode that's not crappy.

Great idea Rob!

^ that is one of my favorite episodes ever.

Back to the OP, I'm thinking of a movie that had a 1st Gen in a car chase, of all things; I can't remember what it was. Anyone?

OK so this game is getting fun at my house. My wife and I have daily competitions to see who spots the most Xterras in a given day...either in person or on TV/Movies. The more discrete they are, the better. After all, if the Xterra was only partially on the screen in the background for less than a second...only a TRUE X-Fan would see it!

Bar Rescue on Spike TV. Season 4 Episode 6 "To Protect and to (Over)Serve" ... "Lickity Split" in Philidelphia, PA. In the opening montage, this Pro4X was driving down the road and was on the screen for less than 1 second. I have quicker eyes, though...so I won this round!

The spin off show "FEAR The Walking Dead" premiered last night...and my wife caught this Xterra really quickly in the background of an insurance/home warranty commercial. The premise of the commercial was for home owners + appliance insurance/home warranty. Customer was dissatisfied to learn that their home owners insurance didn't cover the AC unit that broke down. Insurance agent explains that their physical house is covered in the event of fire, natural disaster, and a zombie apocolypse. You then see zombies roaming around in the parking lot, and you can catch a glimpse of a 2nd gen Xterra in the parking lot...noticed by the iconic corner step. Then you go buy American Home Shield warranty for your home.

I tell you...the more subtle a sighting, the more satisfying.

KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED! THEY ARE OUT THERE! (Xterra's, not zombies)

There's one in I Am Legend for a breif second. Everytime I watch it I tell everybody to look for it haha. It's just one parked out on the streets when he hits the golf ball of the aircraft carrier and sees a deer.

Two more sightings for your entertainment!

The Carbanaro Effect, Season 1 Episode 4. This is a hidden camera magic TV show where Michael Carbanaro (magician) plays tricks on people by performing magic tricks disguised in every day interactions...so the subjects don't realize they are seeing an illusion. Funny show if you catch in on TruTV. Anyway, he pretends to be a winner of a car drawing but forgets his winning ticket. After talking to the security guard, they turn around and the car has disappeared from the tent. While the security guard is freaking out and looking around, you see a first gen in the background for a single second.

Fear the Walking Dead, Season 1 Episode 5. The dude is walking in the military neighborhood on the street, and you see an orange first generation Xterra in a driveway.

Both took a quick eye...and I beat my wife on the call both times!

Well...I am watching TV on a 60" Vizio LED Smart TV....it is mounted on my wall.

If you are asking because The Carbanaro Effect photo looks to have a big tent around it...you have actually fallen victim to an optical illusion. The tent is part of the TV show...it is a shot from within the tent that the prize car was sitting in...and then all of a sudden it has disappeared. The TV I have is mounted to a flat wall...so any texture, color or object you see is part of what was in the TV show.

To get in the Christmas spirit...the movie Christmas with the Kranks has a nice first generation Xterra in the drive way of the neighbors. It can be seen a few different times throughout the movie.

The Xterra madness continues with Christmas at the Kranks! Two other Xterras are found throughout the movie. One is in the background when the two police officers go to the airport to pick up the Daughter Blaire. The shot goes to the police officer on the radio in his car. You don't even see the entire Xterra...but the distinct body line, door handle, ad rear fender are enough to identify the vehicle.

The last one is when the police officers are driving Blaire to the Kranks Christmas party. The shot goes to above a street where the police officers are driving very slowly (stalling since the Christmas party was not set up yet). A Xterra turns onto the same road and passes the slow police car in the snow...showing off how great 4WD is during the winter!

Three Xterras in one movie...now that is a holiday classic!

Is that sarcasm? Lol

Not at all...seriously look at the line between the bumper and fender. The gap is wider at the wheel well and looks to be rocked downwards. This Xterra was in a slight bump! It's fun to find tiny details that no viewer, director, or producer ever knew existed!

Great! There are quite a bit of them out there! It's fun spotting Xterras all over the TV, even when it is just a quick back drop!

The quicker and more subtle the appearance, the more satisfying the find is!
