Please post up write-up requests if you are unable to find one. -RATTFINK

I've searched CX and can't find a write-up or the list of parts for the Resonator Delete Mod. I HATE trying to search CX, but 30mins gave me a bunch of questions being answered, but no real write-up or parts list.

So...help? At least post up the parts list. I'll be doing the mod over Christmas break before the spring semester starts.

Here's the mod:
http://www.clubxterra.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2192

The parts list is on the link. The only parts you need are two plugs: one 2" test plug and one 1.5" plug. Soccerbrace recommends galvanized plugs, but according to a plumber on that thread (maybe it was another thread), the plastic ones will work. You can pick them up from HomeDepot or Lowes (you're local to me, I know you can get them at that Lowes on Sam Ridley).

2" plug

Also be aware the 2" pipe will usually split after a couple months so I put the hose clamp back on it and wrapped it in electrical tape to seal it off.
My 2" plug is the red plastic one, the 1.5" is the galvanized metal

I went to search for it over there too and it only took me a minute or so. I searched for "resonator delete" and it was about ten or twelve spots from the top. I always used to see folks complaining about the search function there, but I've never had a problem with it. Are you using the search under the Xterra on the left side of the page, or the search button on the orange header bar? Because the one on the bar is the one to use. It works great.

Dude how'd you do that so frickin fast?? I HATE that search on CX...thanks buddy.

I bookmarked the massive DIY thread just in case I would ever need it again.

Aaron, I did something similar with the E-tape. Mine wasn't cracked, but I was initially iffy about the plug popping out. Needless to say, its fine.

To keep it from splitting, I suggest loosening the outer hose clamp then sliding in the plug. Tighten the outer hose clamp FIRST until it is snug, then tighten the wing nut on the plug. This makes it so the hose opening is not allowed to stretch at all, just compressed between the plug and hose clamp.

Age might have something to do with it too. A lot of the fittings on RATT's intake tube were starting to crack when I helped him pull the cylinder heads.

Rescue tabe, the rubbery stuff that sticks to only its self > electrical tape. The egine heat and conditions make it brittle and crack.

Pretty sure I'm gonna do this mod tomorrow, especially now that I see it's only gonna cost me $7!

Okay, that's without the K&N...but still...

Good idea. It's little touches like that that are going to eventually make this the ultimate resource for Xterra enthusiasts. :D

Does anyone have a how to on replacing a CV and one on replacing a wheel bearing?? I can't find them anywhere. :hmmm:

Are you looking at front or rear wheel bearings???

There is a really good writeup for the front if I can find it< it has picturers and everything.

For replacing the CV's I can do a quick and dirty write up for you if need be. No pics because it is too dark and cold out for me to do that tonight.

it would be the front. as far as the cv the bf said he could walk me through it, but he's never worked on a x so it would be nice to have something as a back up reference just incase he, well, doesn't know lol

I am at work at this moment, but can do one when I get home. If you can wait untill tomorow it can have pictures and everything. That is if noone does one sooner.

You just need a resistor, not the core itself. It is a 10-20 min fix compared to a couple of days replacing the core.

The writeup is actually in her build thread here. Doodle: can you do an official writeup in the DIY section? It'll be easier to find there for future tolls.

Okay so the thing that I thought was the resistor was just a flat, wide plug...let me get back to you on that one..

It is the blower motor resistor that you need to replace. If you can change the in cabin air filter, you can replace the resistor. it looks like a big flat plug.
