Since the hunting section was dead I thought I should liven it up! What do you all like to hunt? I hunt just about everything- you name it. I've got access to some AWESOME Land here in Nebraska. I love predator calling so that is my #1. I'll try to upload pics later when I'm not on my phone!

I've always enjoyed quail hunting. That's definitely what I've done the most of. I enjoyed pheasant hunting the few times I got to do that. I've only been deer hunting once as a kid and had no luck. Dove hunting is ok but not my favorite.

Around here there is a lot of feeder hunting and I'm still on the fence about it so I haven't even tried. On top of that I haven't been invited to go anywhere and I'm not comfortable asking someone to hunt on their land.

Predator calling sounds pretty sweet!

I wouldn't mind getting to do one of those unlimited pig hunts someday.

Quail hunting is fun. I love to pheasant hunt, although it seems as if every farmer here in NE has been getting rid of any tiny amount of decent cover on their property just to make a tiny bit more cash.

I'm not a fan of feeder hunting. At all. Never have done it and never will. This is what I hunt....

You have to put in some hard work deer hunting walking through the sandhills. We usually walk about 8 miles a day. Which doesn't seem like much, but when you are dressed for freezing temperature and carrying everything you need, and trying to be quiet, etc, it can be a lot. Shooting distance for me with my rifle out there is about 400, while still being comfortable with a clean kill. Its not terribly hard to get in rifle distance, but lately i've been trying with my bow, and my Hawken's muzzleloader- that's been hard.

As for predator hunting, its a BLAST!! It is such a rush when you have a coyote trotting in to your call, or a bobcat slinking his way in. I don't have any recent pictures on my laptop but i'll load some up sometime. Most recently I call in a 28 pound tom Bobcat that my dad shot at 260 yards. Honestly, if you are ever in Nebraska or planning a trip here in the fall/winter/early spring let me know. You don't need a license or anything for coyote hunting, just property and a gun- which I have access to the 3rd largest ranch in NE and plenty of guns to go around!

Thought I would bump this thread!

I went turkey hunting (with a bow) in the middle if may with my brother. After doing some calling we had 3 coyotes pop their heads up - 46 yds out according to the range finder- so my brother was quick on the draw and dropped this little guy!

He only had his head and neck showing so it was a very impressive shot. Right through the carotid and spinal cord- dead before it hit the ground.

When I used to hunt, I liked quail and pheasant hunting with a good pointer. Never much cared for deer or duck hunting. I've mostly given up hunting, since there's not much quail hunting to be done in LA, and I don't really care to eat any other wild game, so that really put an end to my hunting days. I'm not one of those freaks who thinks all hunting should be banned, but I believe if you're not going to eat it, don't kill it. Unless you're thinning out a predator population to protect the prey. I don't have anything against that either. Sometimes it just needs to be done.

Quail and pheasant is a blast with a good bird dog! school and work has me too tied up during those seasons to do much of it but it's up there on top hunts for me.

Coyotes are THICK here in Nebraska. They have been gettin mange really bad though and cold winters do a great job of thinning the ill ones out, but unfortunately we had a short and rather warm winter. So it's been spreading even worse :(

I agree with the eat what you kill. Being from Chicago, it's hard to find hunting opportunities. I hunt whitetail and turkey in central IL on a buddy's property, and have hunted pheasant, but just released birds. I'm working on my archery skills so that I can confidently attempt bowhunting deer and turkey.

Predator hunting sounds awesome, and nice shot on the coyote with a bow.

I used my ruger .204

I also got this guy with my AR right after I built it. Open sights in the sandhills, about a 140 yd freehand shot.

and my brother whacked this one this year, not a terrible thick deer but a unique rack. ended up being an 8x6. there are some points sticking straight out on the left, and on the right (right on the scope) one sticks out and hooks up.
