Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean stereo. I figured I'll guinea pig it. Hope to have it installed by the end of the week.

There is no identifiable brand, in typical Chinese fashion. Specs are 1.6 Ghz A9, 1 GB RAM, 8GB on board memory with USB and SD card memory upgrades (USB for media and SD for apps/media/etc.) Built in WiFi and Bluetooth.

You know what? Check this: http://r.ebay.com/bmEzZp

Special for your car!

Thanks for the link. I'd like to see this thing in action. From what I can tell, the only thing it's missing is a SIM card slot so the head unit can actually connect to the Internet on its own.

Yeah, but it does have a USB port that could be used for a 4G dongle. I have free wifi tethering on my phone and unlimited data, so that was a contributing factor to deciding to buy.

I hope to have video of it running by the end of the weekend. It will be in a thread of its own or in my build thread so keep a lookout.

Did you get this in? Im itching to get kgb one

It's sort of in. It's plugged in and barely bolted in so I can use it, but most of my dash is in the back seat. I had to order a new Metra dash kit because the Scoshce one I had isn't a true double-DIN (it's shy by a few mm in either dimension) and the stereo chassis is the exact double-DIN dimensions. I am currently waiting on some right angle RCA plugs to arrive, because the RCA plugs for the amp are right up against the cross brace under the dash.

I plan to do a full installation write-up and video demonstration once I finally get everything together for the final installation. First impression: it is totally worth it.

Cool yeah Ill need to know about any plugs I need to buy and such.. looks like a deal... Im not hung up on brand names..

On TNX a guy bought one and was getting clowned because it was a Chinese radio. They are all made in China. Probably comes from the same factory as Pioneer, etc. They just slap a different name on it on a different day. But would like to see the install of this.

PS: I like your avatar. Are you getting the Pre-quil?

Yeah, you're right about that. 99% of consumer electronics, regardless of where they are designed, are built in China. Especially Android devices.

Really curious to hear your thoughts about the stereo. I desperately want to upgrade mine, but I recall reading through various posts about complications with the 1.5 gen and it's rockford fosgate amp connections and what not and I don't know if this would work with it.

Easiest solution is to pull the whole thing and either use the amp in the head unit or run your own external amp.

Got a couple of new battery terminals in today. Though it seems that with how the positive cables are I might not be able to stretch them enough.

Here's a pic with the negative installed. I'll post more in my build later.

Intake spacer, set #2 of valve cover gaskets, and the o-ring that goes around the FSU.

Where did you get the spacer from? I had one ordered from a Z web site but they never shipped and after a few months I had to get paypal to refund

Damn. That's not a bad price at all. Lemme know if it makes a significant difference. I'd be down.

Will do. I plan on doing a write up as well. Have to pull the intake off to do the driver's valve cover gasket, so I figured why not spend $61 and put a spacer in there while I'm at it.

Not brown but USPS

Is that just a standard envelope? What was in it? Knowing how the USPS sorting machines work, if the envelope contained anything thicker than, say, 1/4", especially anything with rough/square/sharp edges, it's a packaging error and not their fault.

Just my $0.02

They were spacers for my InSain Fab rear light bar. I talked w/ Chris and they are sending me some new ones. I was just going to get some at Lowe's but before I could, he sent me an email saying they were sending me new ones. He said it's their fault, the guy just threw them in an envelope and sent it out without taping anything.
