So I am getin ready to get my tow package on the truck but now I have the issue that my truck is a oddball without the flat 4 so I need to add trailer lights. I am thinking of puting some relays under the hood to run them but I don't know where to pull a signal for brake and turn from.

On mine there was a square 4 pin plug under the back passenger corner that you get a cable that plugs into that and the other end is the flat connector. Ill go take some pics shortly

I pulled the tire down and looked but I can't find it. From what I have read the manual didn't come with that bit of wireing.

The stub should be there. I had it on my old truck. Incidentally, I still have the truck wiring to standard 4 pin trailer plug in the garage. I still about 18 inches long has an OEM connector on one side and a universal 4 pin on the other.

The plug you're looking for is on the drivers side frame rail about 8 inches forward of the bumper.

they are rite, it is on the passenger side, I have even seen them at advanced auto, like rite on the shelf and everything, not even needing to order it from the dealership. You should be able to see it without pulling the tire.

The 31 takes up a bit more room than the stock tire did so it actually hits the bumper. That's part of why I want to get the tire carier eventually, the 10.5 inch wide tire hangs pretty low under the truck.

From what I understand the conector should be right here but the only wireing there is what I installed to hook up reverce lights, compressor and the backup camera and a bundle that looks like ita just the licance plate lights.

Yeah judging by the video there should be a tab pluged into the small holes on the right and the connector ziptied to it.

So my order arived today. All I have to do is actually install it now. Dose anybody know where the bundle with the tail lights runs I'd like to just install them all together on the bundle rather than behind each tail light.

That connector would only be on Xterra that left the factory with the Factory Tow Package. So it's not on every 1st gen. Sad what they will leave off to save a few bucks.

But when I bought my 1st gen, it didn't have the hitch and it had no evidence on the frame that it was ever there. But I had the wiring. I'm wondering if it's a year thing. Maybe the wiring became standard in 02.

Same here i had to put the hitch on myself. Though the window sticker did say it had the towing package......somehow that doesnt mean the hitch?

So maby it is just the 00 that didn't get it. Dose anybody know where the loom runs up the body. That way I can splice in plug for the trailer light converter.

As far as I recall, the factory tow package was the wiring to that plug on the frame rail, and a transmission cooler for automatic trans equipped vehicles. It did not include the hitch, as that was considered a dealer installed accessory.

Did the tow package also include frame stiffeners or was that part of the factory hitch?

Edit
Not that that realy matters not that I have the, just curious
