Okay, So the BF got me the rims (below) for my birthday which are 16x10.

http://www.procompusa.com/prodDetail.aspx?partNo=PCW98-6183F&catID=11&subCat=209&ptID=100021&plID=101830

I want to get these tires (see below).

https://treadwright.com/p-55-285-75r16-guard-dog-m-t-d.aspx

My question is, will the 285/75/16 fit the 16x10 rim? I see that the rim width range is 7.5" - 9".

Will they work?

Ive done research all over the place and see that they SHOULD work. But should isn's the answer i'm really looking for. Hell I almost said forget it and was tempted to buy the 305/70/16 BackBone by treadwright.... but I really don't want to cut THAT much. lol

That rim is just too wide for that skinny of a tire.

A 7" wide rim would be fine...a 9" rim is the widest that tire can be mounted on though.

If you want to use those rims, you will have a lot of trouble with fitment on the truck as well, as they only have 4" of BS.

So, the rims are too wide to fit that tire onto, and, the 4" of BS will make it so you need to take out the sawzall/remove a lot of metal to fit those tires...which can't go on those rims anyway....etc.

Can you trade them for 16x8's with 5.5" of BS instead?

TJ is correct, really nice of the BF but sucks that they are too wide. You would definitely be trimming lots metal if you go with those rims and 33"s, just not enough backspacing. Sorry Doodle.

The silly thing is that narrower rims work better for off roading, as they help to keep the beads from blowing.

I use the OEM 16x7's for 33 x 13.5/16 and 305/70/16 tires, and they have never lost a bead, and they wore evenly, etc, never a problem.

The 13.5's say to use a 9" rim right on them, but the 7" rims worked too well to worry about it.

:D

Thanks guys. Looks like an exchange on the rims is a must. I appreciate the info. And hey don't knock the treadwrights. For one i like the recycling factor and guys are already running them and are happy with em. I've done my research
No worries. :)

I paid 160 per on Duratracs.. I think those Treadwrites sre 130 per... Not saving much... and your getting a good tire.. Nothing against TWs
But you just never know how that Retread was treated before...

But in the end you have to spand what your wallet will let you spend

Well it's not so much what the wallet will let me spend. I did my research, I liked what people had to say about them. I like friends opinions who have been running them as well. At this point anything would be better than what i currently have (whatever tire comes on a stock 2010), mind you they have gotten me through everything i have encountered thus far but i want something that doesn't looks so... girlie to say the least. lol But I apperciate the help with the rim sizing. Thank you. :)

Lol, I know what you mean by girlie tire. I need some "less girlie" tires too, so I wont be far behind you doodle. I have Radar brand tires right now and I have gotten more than my moneys worth out of them, I think I paid around $550 for 4 of them 2 1/2 years ago. I can safely say that they have at least another year and a half in them, they are around the halfway point. So I hear you on the not-so-mainstream tires, they can be a gamble but they could also just be a really good deal. That being said I am probably going to go with some BFG's or Duratracs for my next set.

Yeah, the recycling of the Treadwrights is nice, but, once you combine the DOT, etc, recommendation that a tire should be removed from service once its 6 years older than the DOT date on the sidewall, due to breakdown of the components and safety issues associated with that...using the SAME tire carcass to start over again, with an unknown REAL age, is a bit iffy to me. (Retreaders are allowed to make a new sidewall date, mostly a holdover from the original use on Truck tires, which are MADE to be retreaded)

Also, they use an AT carcass to make the MT tires, so, what you get is a weaker AT side walled tire that LOOKS like an MT, etc....another compromise.

At that point, a new PepBoys Definity MT, etc, which is ALSO a weak side walled MT, and which is also cheap...can be a better deal if they have it in a size you wanted, etc...but those don't tend to be avail in 31+ sizes in most stores, etc...

Honestly, I would come up with a reason as to why I could not just leave the X at the shop getting the tires put on. You know, they never do it right unless your standing there. Of course I would have to take the day off of work, and while I'm at it might as well test them out by taking it wheeling. :D

Okay, I was asking because I bought ones similar to those and could only find them with 3.75" I had to cut because they rubbed while turning.

Oh yea, i plan on having to cut due to rubbing. Sucks because i dont have any time left for the year to take off. But the shop that i go to is great. They always do just what is asked and will call me if they have any questions or suggestions. The guys there love my truck. I went back in Aug for a tire rotation and alignment and i ended up getting discounted bc the man who worked on my truck really liked it and was excited to see that it was a womans truck. Ill drop it off around 730ish and it will be done by lunch time. Plus its nice bc the alignment is still under the 12mth 12k warranty so that will be free and the tires ill have mount and balanced (for 5) will only cost me $75. Theyre awesome at mounting my spare back on my roof as well, so thats a nice bonus. Plus i think that on saturday i may head up to Rausch Creek for a run.. ya know.. to make sure the tires are freaking awesome!!!! :D

Digging the black lugs & black center caps - they look awesome! Hey, I might have missed it in a different thread, but is your rear jacked up a lot more than your front right now, or is it just the angle your pics are at?

Thanks. The pic of my avatar is with my rear passenger tire on a stump, that may be why it looks jacked up. lol. But i'm pretty much the same height all around.
