Ok, well on this year's big to do list before Went is a winch. I know If doing it, it should be done right. However, I cannot justify dropping 500 plus bones for a part I will probably use 2 or three times a year at most. I don't want to buy something cheap and unreliable either. Long story short I found a Smittybilt on good 'ol amazon for a decent price.

9500lbs, water proof. For those with Smittybilt winch experience; pros and cons?

Thats a good winch... I run the H2o and its not failed me in the few times that Ive needed it..
Word to the wise though... Go Synthetic.. The weight reduction is worth it

Also you can ask TomsRedX - he won the smittybilt at Shocker 7 and has used it a bit since then.

That's right. I forgot Tom won that. I'll ask him. Thanks for the reminder.

Sweet. Thanks for the info. Yea. I'll go synthetic without a doubt. I'll talk to the guys at dragline.

I like my good old fashioned wire rope. I end up dragging stuff over enough sharp rocks that synthetic does not last very long. And you cant use your winch cable to split wood of you have synthetic.

It is also a good idea to run the winch in and out about once a month, to keep everything moving the way that it should.
