this video says it all https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySWlFqibctg atleast twice a year I go over to the badlands in attic,in. with GLX (great lakes xterra). so my fix is LOKKA front auto locker:smile:, order last night. I'm wondering what else this will lead to. I'm sure I'll need all the help i can get installing this auto locker. By next spring i would like to be lifted, steel front bumper w/winch, rock sliders. as far as bang for the buck I hope I'm on the right track.

Im not sure what you are asking? Will a locker help you off road? Sure.. But they can also get you in trouble.

The good thing about open diffs is it sure teaches you to take good lines and become a better driver. The front locker will help a bunch but it doesn't always overcome a bad line, and like Dave mentioned, this can get you into trouble.

All that said, I love my front locker!

Ok, sorry guys I've been busy, My lokka locker came in last night! My current suspension set up is stock. My rear sway bar is still connected but will be removed as soon as I start this little project. I'm not planning on larger tires I have 265/65/17 grabber at2 right now. I'm going to try to do a 2" body lift and the 1.5" PML. This should put me in the game I hope.

Why would I want to lower my front diff?

Get rid of your rear sway bar, not front and then lengthen yur shocks. If your rear shackle is gone your axle will want to drop further thus added stress to your shocks. One of my eyelets literally pulled right off the shock. Go with something 2-3" longer travel. I am sure you did but did you air down? you could go down to 15-13 psi and try that. Do a PML, body lift will not help you much except give you problems with cables and hoses in the future as you own the truck(I say that because I hear if from owners that have done it). Other than that have fun wheelin!

The stuff for the PML and 2" body lift is order. I've never ordered shocks before, is the length my only concern? Seems like there would be more to it. Also, I was trying to post pictures of my auto locker but the site wouldn't let me......hum

1.5" spacers on the rear will take care of the frame rub.
Can't stress enough to get rid of that rear sway bar, that's what hurt you most in that video.
You are gonna love the Lokka.

Your on the right track.

you need to put the pics on a sharing site like photobucket and make links to them

I agree with you completely, get rid of that rear swaybar and that make everything easier. I did that to mine a few years ago and I was surprised at how much better my off road capabilities were...

Its been a minute, I've done nothing ha...ha.. all parts are here its just been cold. That and I want the X running incase we have a snow storm. So I'll get started in march I think.

Anyway I was thinking tonight about the project and how much rear lockers cost. An Idea!!!!!! Do gen 2 trucks have a rear end with a factory axle lock? could I make that swap?

The P4X trim has an e-locker. I don't know how much effort it would be to swap it over to a non-locked truck.

The gen 2 pro 4x and offroad ones have an e locker. However it would be cheaper and easier to just buy an Arb locker for your truck and put it in. Literally everything is different on the gen 2 axles and are actually weaker than our h233b axles.

That and the ratios are way different, and a different lug pattern, and they are weaker, but other than that they are just the same

Boy O boy, check out what I have! 20" rims and 33/12.5/r20.

I've completed the 1.5" PM and am now going to do the front locker and the 2"BL at the same time. This xterra is going to be looking right. The first pic. is after the 1.5 lift. The next 2 are my great deal, 800$ And the next two, well its my bumper issue. I really like the look of the tube syle but it has no winch mount. I feel a winch is a must. This summer I plan to go to several off road parks. So far I plan to visit, The badlands in attica, IN., Wooly's in TN. and Windrock in TN.20160305_151937_resized.jpg20160310_190205_resized.jpg20160310_190233_resized.jpg20160310_192604_resized.jpg20160310_192633_resized.jpg

A couple pictures of my 2" BL and my front locker.....Sweeeeet! If you can't tell I just figured out the up load attachments. My plan with the locker is to remove the front axle /pumpkin and bring it to a transmission shop and have them install it in the pumpkin. I ony want to do this once. The body lift no problem, I'll do that all myself. If there's a guy on here named Austin that went to the badlands GLX meet last fall. No more open axles for me!20160310_195910.jpg20160310_195937.jpg

Well the rear locker is out, I think I'm running out of time. I've got until the 22nd of April to finish this stuff. Thats the next GLX meet. O I will have a front locker though.......:)
To night I finished mounting the tires nice, located all bolts for the 2" body lift and front diff. drop and BLASTED THEM, TWICE!!

Don't waste your time and energy on the diff drop. The ⅜" is not worth all that cussing.

So I've read! I won't do the diff drop. The bolts on the front cross-members are sooooooooo tight. I have a nice 1/2" breaker bar and still can't get the bolts loose. I also have a 1/2" gun and it won't loosen them. I think I need to buy a torch if I want to get this done in a reasonable amount of time.

Well as you can see I purchased a Torch!!!! Harbor freight style. This was surprising easy with a Torch:) 14mm aka 9/16" is your friend on this job. Also it help's if you have never 4x4 ed the truck. But in my case I can throw that out the window. I have a dirt pit in my carport. The Attica, IN. mud is a protective layer of ...??!!!!!!!. Please wear safety glasses!
Maybe it's just my X but bolts are rusty a Torch!! Ok enough about the Torch! I need a new oil sending unit, Its leaking oil pretty bad, (see picture 4). 20160319_115305.jpg20160319_130727.jpg20160319_151236.jpg20160319_151345.jpg20160319_151311.jpg

The front axle is out and heading to B&M Transmissions here Indy. I'm going to have them put the locker in, I just don't have the tools to install it. Now its on to the Body lift to Clear the tires!
