Shared Campsites at Windrock

Figured I'd get the ball rolling on this.

Windrock's rules on primitive campsites:


  • TENTS ONLY! NO ENCLOSED TRAILERS, POP-UP CAMPERS, ETC.
  • No generators.
  • Limit of 6 people per site.
  • Limit of 2 tow vehicles per site.
  • Limit of 2 small tents (2 person occupancy) or 1 large tent per site.

That being said, I've got one vehicle and one tent (possibly the rooftop flavor), so a spot is open. I might have my pup with me; haven't decided yet.

Please, no obnoxious drunks ;)

I was probably just going to sleep out of my truck again. I'm positive my gen 2 is a lot more comfortable than my gen 1, lol.

Could be looking for a site-buddy. Not positive.

The lady and I will be camping as well. We will a tent set up, use the MX for staging and such.
Or in case it decides to rain, sleep in her. We will have a dog with us.

I will be solo with my X and a small 2 person tent. If someone needs a place to crash feel free. If you plan on drinking heavy like tater please look elsewhere.

I'll be camping either in a Tent or inside the X. I gotta find my air mattress and get my power converter. That's pretty dumb that they block the site links, I can understand posts that are trying to get people to move from TNX to over here but come one... thats just stupid

Yeah they had a few people really talking about XN and how cool it was and I take it the owners didn't like that..
Xn has crushed one of their sites already and I think they didn't want to see that happen to the new investment

I also just want to put this out there, cross posted.......



Hammocks are allowed. So is sleeping in your Xterra. You could sleep on the picnic table at the primitive site I think, if you wanted to.

Windrock is a pretty clean place. They maintain it very well. The bathrooms are clean too. They don't smell like a gas station bathroom at all.....

I love Windrock campground. They have their rules just like everybody else does. Just be respectful and there won't be any problems.

Remember we are representing WENT/NXM/Nissan/Xterras, and what have you. We would like to continue to have events there. Last year they had a group of Toyotas that came in with an event and tore up the place, not very considerate. A lot of us live near here so we visit quite often, so we don't need a bad reputation. Also we are representing our own Xterra clubs whether it be seXTERRA, VAXC, GLX or the like. So be respectful.

So who wants a campsite buddy! I enjoy long drives on the beach at sunset, have a single person tent, and will be willing to cook :D

Since there are no beaches to drive on near Windrock you can crash at my site if you want.

I don't know how many are registered but I have a feeling the camp site area is going to look like one big camping area.

Last year I didn't actually book a campsite... I just camped in the area away from the pavilion... I'm guessing this year I will have to since a ton of more people will be there. Might as well go ahead and do it lol

Ohio by Lima I'll go straight down I 75. want to get there Wednesday night and leave Sunday morning. don't know how the availability will be there sounds like just our group will be pretty big.

We are trying to keep people way from the event area. This will help windrock know how many is there and keep the area free for each event. We will be using the grass area for over flow.

People call ahead and book a campsite. Most of them you don't reserve a specific one so you can just show up and choice the one you want.

Also I see a few people on here asking to share a camp site. I'm already setup to share mine so sorry. But go ahead and start PMing each other. It will be a great way to get to know others.
