I seriously don't get the hard part. It's clips/pins that need to be compressed then pushed. Atleast on mine. Am I missing something on other models?

The clips on this one were captive on both sides. So I actually had to pry the black plastic open with a screwdriver to get the clips out. It also took a pry tool to get between the two pieces and keep pressure as I worked my way across the grill so it didn't pop back together.

Oh. And the burger broke when I tried to remove it. So I had to order a new one.

For some reason, the alignment on the grill is off a bit from the headlights. And the bottom sits waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too far in so I've got some figuring to do to get it 100%.

All of these mods I'm doing tell me I should have spent more money and bought a 2010+

Because that's what I'm building. Heh.

Dynamat is 90% done.

I left bare the areas where my wires are to be run so that I can mat over them once I drill a hole in the roof.

In the interest of serviceability, I soldered disconnects on to the overhead wiring.

That way it can be unplugged and pulled if need be.

What is this "serviceability" you speak of? Once it's up, you never have to take it down again, right?

I love deutsch connectors but usually end up using wether pack conectors as I have the crimping tool for them

What if the headliner needs to be done down the road? Or I need to drill more holes in the roof!
Hence the laugh. You know as well as I when you say you'll never need in anywhere again, you're back in a week later.

I spent a year as a electrical technician building firetrucks. Crimp ends are way faster when you are doing a cople hundred conections a day.

And that's when it's feasible to purchase the tools required. I'm afraid to look up the kit price of the one we use at work because one set of jaws with a gate it $300. Our kit has 9 sets and that's not including the actual tool. But long story short, primes method is probable overkill even still lol.

If your rig vibrates enough to break the solder on a tinned pin connector them you've got far greater things to worry about my friend.
Haha. Yeah.

Besides, these connections are crimped too. Just not with an official tool. The cheapest one I could find was $35. And nah. I own all the soldering stuff.

Got the rack removed today for vinyl prep.

Not a single riv nut came loose. I think I'm going to epoxy or JB Weld the surface of the riv nut to the roof before the vinyl goes down. That way they'll never move. And you won't see them regardless.

you do such good work. Great attention to detail. Mine would have a custom duct tape patch and the smoke would leave the wires
