I know it's a very case-by-case kinda question, but what do y'all get (mpg) while overlanding? Not talking about wheeling, just slow trail riding w/o rock crawling or heavy obstacles.
Thanks for the help

mud and fluffy sand takes a lot more fuel like 5-8 mpg, while hard pack dirt without a big change in elevation change I usually get around 12-14 ish

I usually estimate around 10mpg, Depending on the surface this can vary. Along with this depending on stopping and going and keeping the vehicle running also makes a huge difference. I don't think I've seen below 5mpg even when off-roading. But 16-18mpg is possible if it is just a gravel road you can go 30mpg down. In the city I average 14mpg and Interstate 14mpg as a reference.

Yeah when offroading it's rare to cover a large amount of miles per hour. Engine spends its time reving in low gear or at idle neither is good for fuel consumtion. I find 13 MPG's or so to be accurate number for the overlanding I do. The drag on the tires from the gravel and being loaded with gear never helps. If its sand then its much worse, technical rock crawling isn't good either.
