o2 sensor removal

Newbie question,

Can I delete all the o2 sensors or do I need at least 2?
I found this handy schematic online.

http://zero-signal.org/o2/O2bypass.html.htm

Problem is the ECU expects to see a change in the signal. If all you do is throw a resistor across the signal line, then the ECU will see X volts. Always.

The ECU _needs_ to see the voltage change, or it throws a code. It needs to see it hit at least .7V or it throws one code, and a different code of it doesn't then drop below .4V

The best thing you could do is to have your exhaust guy put a bung somewhere down the line and put a sensor in a CEL Eliminator or a drilled out sparkplug non fouler.

So its best to keep the downstream o2's? And also, How can I tell if all the O2 sensors are plugged into the right place? Since my plugs were never mounted on the valve cover like they were supposed to be, I dont know whats what.

You'll have to check the wiring. Assuming the previous owner didn't totally jack that up:

Bank 1, Sensor 1
1 Orange/Black
2 Black
3 Brown/Yellow

B2, S1
1 Orange/Black
2 Green
3 Brown

B1, S2
1 Orange
2 Red/Black
3 Orange/Black
4 Yellow

B2 S2
1 Yellow
2 Red/Yellow
3 Orange/Black
4 Brown

Bank 1 and 2 refer to the engine Right and Left, and Bank 1 is ALWAYS where cylinder 1 is. This is a standard across all engine mfrs. Sensor 1 is in the exhaust manifold, and 2 is after the 1st cat.
