That troy rear sight is awesome, I may have to put one one my next build. I have a colt carry handle sitting around you could have for cheap if you don't want to drop a load of cash right now on one. It's just sitting in my parts bin.

Nah my dad has a scope that I want to TRY to put on it. It's been on the 10/22 most of my life haha.

Scored a charging handle today! I love local gun forums/sites.

Also got my delta ring assembly and gas tube today. Got a single-railed gas block last week. Now I just need some grease, Loctite, flash hider/muzzle brake, and a bolt carrier and this baby will shoot!!

This is killing me. I don't have the proper tools to finish it. I've contemplated buying a set (or an all in one AR tool) but now I'm wishing I had. This sucks.

Yeah, but I figured between my dad's tool set and mine, I had the right tools, but I can't find anything to get that frigging barrel nut down tight enough, and I can't find my set of split ring pliers!

:hmmm:

Nis....if you need, I could probably mail you my AR tool if you'd send it back, then you don't have to wait for someone else to do it for you....

Rear Troy DOA sight ordered. Gonna have to buy them separate as funds allow. It should be here by Monday, if not Saturday.

I have all the components to have a shooting, functioning rifle, but no sights. I was going to go ahead and install the BCG, but I have no way of checking head space.

That stinks, at least you have one of the sights ordered! You'll have to add your review of the rear sight once you get a chance to use it a little bit. That's some dough for an iron sight, but I feel like it will be worth it. Also, if I can add one suggestion, I would either get a front sight with a white/illuminated post. When I ran irons only I didn't and I ran into issues in lower light shooting (coyotes) and had a heck of a time getting a decent shot placed.

BIG update.

I SHOT MY AR!!!!!!!!!!!! I ran 20 rounds through it to make sure I had everything assembled together properly before dropping the dough on the front sight. Had some feeding/ejection issues in the first 6-8 rounds, but that was my fault. I didn't get the hand guard cap down far enough, thus resulting in the gas tube not fully seating in the bolt carrier. Once I tapped that down, she ran flawlessly! I'm so friggin happy!!!!!

Just wish I had that stupid front sight so I could start running some 3GN.

I think you've forgotten the rules:

Rule 1: No pics, no proof
Rule 2: Refer to Rule 1

All done, except for that stupid front sight. She'll shoot, though! Let me say this, that Wilson Combat muzzle brake is LOUD! It does help with felt recoil, though.

I also tried painting some mags and the stock...note, Rustoleum OD Camo does NOT match Magpul OD. It looks more like foliage green.

Mag on the left is Rusto OD, mag in the middle is original Magpul OD, and the stock has been painted Rusto OD.

Looks great and looks like it shoots well.
You must be in one of those states only allowing "short" mags (bummer).

Just put one together for my friend who has never owned, much less shot anything like it.

Needless to say, he was impressed and couldn't stop grinning. And it only took 6 months for his parts to come in!

Will shoot even better with the new Buffer Tube.

I did real well avoiding any purchases at highly inflated prices the last 6 months, but the dark side finally got to me.

Having a couple lowers sitting around that i got just before the madness of 6 months ago got the best of me.

Couldn't resist this gem for a 3-gun platform. Don't know when it's coming, but BCG'S are starting to appear again, so hopefully not too far out.
