So I finally won a bid on an old military trailer. It's a M101A2. I'm just waiting to pick it up but I just bought my pintle hitch
Here's the pic I have of it

Sweet! I'm looking at gettin one. They sell them in lots of 3 around here though, so I have to figure out how I would haul them all.

How much for the 3? I might go in on 1/3 the cost if you can get a 3rd person.... worth a look. Otherwise I'll just keep planning on building one. Oh, nice find by the way...lol

I haven't put too much thought in to yet but i want it to be a dual use trailer for now. Be able to haul stuff around town and what not and to be able to use it as an expo trailer when I wanna do that.

And the weight is 1280 or so.

Last time I checked it was $250 or so

Is that for all three? If so that's an amazing deal. I paid 350 for mine through biding and the last time bids were around 750 for one

ditto, I really want one too, I'd probably stretch it about an extra 3' in length, and build some watertight cargo boxes down below the "floor" and maybe lay an RTT as the floor and frame around that, if I could find one the perfect size....

congrats on the buy!

jm....if you can grab 3 for $250, I'd certainly be in to grab one with ya.

I wish I'd have known that a few days ago...I'd have changed plans and routed my trip back from Iowa over through NE and come and snagged one too..that would have been a sweet surprise deal while on vacation ;)

No joke! I'll look and see what I may be able to get them for and keep you and TDKx00 updated.

Deadpilot- how tall is the trailer? Err, how high is the tow point?

Congrats on the purchase! Cannot wait to see what you do with it. :) Giant baby stroller, ahaha!

I don't know yet but once I pick up it I'll let ya know.

Funny enough the trailer will be used to carry baby stuff when we are going places with our three dogs lol

I looked up the size of the M101A2's...those things are 8'x5'5" not including the tonque. That's pretty large to be pulled loaded by an X offroad isn't it? I was thinking it was more along the size of a M416. I'd use it as a utility hauler rather than a camper. So if there is a deal in the works I still want one but I still will build a camper size trailer.

uh.....TKDx00, I think that may depend on which X, I know mine has had no problem at all pulling a 18' flatbed with a built Jeep on it, even with some light offroading trying to get to a good spot to unload it.

balance the load on the trailer, aim for a 60/40 weight distribution so you keep some weight on the tongue but not too much, and then your only problem is hitch height, which, can be fixed.

I have no questions about if Steena can pull it...I know she can!!! I was questioning if I wanted to take it offroad loaded down. It's pretty big for just me on a weekender...lol

I wouldn't think it'd be that bad offroad....I mean, I've towed one with a army "5K" generator on it through some pretty unpleasant stuff, and that was behind one of the army gutless blazers. The trailer handled quite nicely, and, I've got a hunch there's very slim chances you're gonna load one down as heavily as what that generator weighed so, you should be fine.

I do see your point. It's just the size of the thing in the pic and not seeing one ever hooked to an X has made me rethink. I still want it don't get me wrong... just that thing looks pretty big...dazall.

Well next week I'll mine connect to my X so that will help with how it looks. I just don't know if I'm gonna keep it the green it comes or make it match the X
