Must trails in Moab

For all you Moab experts. What are some must hit trails in Moab? I have a very capable rig but most days I will be towing my off-road tear drop. The thing is I will be solo. So think of trails with good sites and that no spotter is required. What trails are a must for me to go on. I plan on staying around the area for 2-9 days depending on if I get board of seeing rocks.

Are you going to goneMOAB or alone? When is your trip? How offroad capable is your teardrop?

[The reason I ask when is that I haven't been to Moab for many years but will be at goneMOAB in late May. I will be able to give some specific recommendations for an Xterra with trailer when I return.]

I would camp out off of sand flats and not take the trailer on the trails, that way you can do fins, and hells revenge without any problems, you can do them alone if you want, I have brought in stragglers who went solo on Hells a couple of times. I like taking the trailer so that I can wheel as light as I can, fewer things to break that way.

You could probably do elephant hill depending on how capable your trailer is, and how comfortable of a solo driver you are. I've seen plenty of expedition trailers on that trail. You just need to make reservations ahead of time if you want to camp on the trail. Or you can do the trail in one day and drive back up to moab. Its definitely worth seeing the confluence if your in that area.

I have always wanted to wake up at the base of Gooney bird, and it would be an easy run with the trailer.I would say Lasal pass but it will more than likely still be snowed in.

La Sal may not be snowed in by then. We've had a very scant snow year and were able to make most of the trek through last week. Mud and no winch was what forced us to turn around and head back through the canyon road. If you want someone to run a few trails with, hit us up! We live about 90 minutes from Moab and I'm off Thursdays through Sundays.

What Granite and Xterror04 said...you can leave the trailer and do Hells and Fins no problem...The capability of your setup is less important than the radical change in wheelbase and geometry. Neither Hells nor Fins is particularly difficult (although there are places on Hells you don't want to be caught not paying attention), but add in the extra length and another axle and it could get weird with sharp dips and elevation changes.

So I plan on parking my trailer for some of these trails and would like to pull it on others. Let me Know if any of these would be dangerous or just not smart.

1. Hell's Revenge (no Trailer)
2. FINS N THINGS (no Trailer)
3. White Rim Trail (with Trailer)
4. Chicken Corner & Lockhart Basin (with Trailer)
5. Arches Nat Park, Back Exit w/Tower Arch (with Trailer)

I do plan to go back to moab another year and run more trails with a group. I just want to see it and hit some good spots. I can't spend my whole trip here I got Alaska to see.

I dont know white rim but you should be fine with the corners and lockhart with your trailer. You'll be able to run Fins and Hells both in 1/2 to 3/4 of a day. Just be careful on hells - where there are painted spots, stay in the lines. You can roll if you don't pay attention for even a few seconds. coughSlasacough

No problems with the trailer on white rim. Its mostly a good flat gravel road with great scenery. The descent down from the park entrance gate is fairly steep with lots of switchbacks, but you wont have issues (it's not Blackbear or Corkscrew by any means). Just watch your transmission heat coming out.
