wait, you've hung out with Grant? congratulations, that makes you a superstar with me....I can only hope to trump you by one day getting to blow something up with Adam, Jamie, and Kari ;)

I'm not sure I can say that we hung out, but I've talked to him a few times. There were over a hundred team members at the competitions back then and he was a very popular competitor. He had a wicked hammerbot that was so powerful, it pierced the 1/4" steel plate arena floor a few times and forced the organizers to upgrade to a 1/2" thick steel floor. Jamie and Adam had a team as well. This was a few years before they all were approached with the Mythbusters idea.

What was the name of your bot rokdaddy? (I'm a big battlebots fan myself)

You should think about starting a new tread on it. I'm sure there are a few guys on here that would love to know more.

I've built a few myself, but never got the chance to compete with the big boys, lol.

I never competed with the big boys either... most of my time in the combat robot community was spent helping other teams. I would share parts and contribute time and money when I could but I didn't have a lot of cash to work with back then.

The only bot that I could call my own (and was ready for competition) I named Shuriken - Shuri for short. It was a lightweight (<60 lbs.) shell spinner. My friends joked that I should have named it "Bad Timing" because I finished it shortly after Battlebot's final event, in a time when a few new events were struggling to create the next greatest venue. With multiple events spread around the country instead of a single comp that everyone attended once a year, the events seemed increasingly less appealing each year. When plans fell through for a local club out here, I gave up and put Shuri up for sale to help fund other robotics projects.

I didn't have a camera back then so I had to depend on others for photos. I think I still have some from the pits at Treasure Island and the ones that I took when I sold Shuri. I'll see if I can dig those up...

Which weight classes did you build for? Rock, paper or scissors?

Here's a couple from Macklemore... his song thrift shop hit number 1. He's outta Seattle and self produced... no record label. He's been around for a while now but a lot of people still haven't heard his real work.

This song "Otherside" hits home.. some of you might know I also had some drug and alcohol issues...lost a lot...

and this one "Same Love" is for all the lovers.... I'm super supportive of same sex marriage and equality so this definitely vibes with that.

Thank you for listening! I've always followed local music/artist... I followed Colorado's music scene closely and the mile high has incredible talent.

I am so lucky to be in Washington now... the snowboarding is rad.. Seattle is progressive, forward thinking and the music and art scene is top-notch! Just like Denver. I started looking into Seattle's music scene which is huge!!! I stumbled on Macklemore back in June.... when I posted that video it had 13 million views...

It's at 19 million views now! He is blowing the **** up and I'm so glad his message is spreading. Same love is beautiful and everyone needs to hear it.

Oh, if you ever come back down this way to visit let me know. A lady friend and I have been hitting up this place called Paris on the Platte in downtown that hosts Monday night open mic. It's pretty awesome. There was some insane talent the first time we went, since then it's kinda been hit or miss.

The World lost one of the best Guitarists ever, from one of the most influential bands ever. R.I.P Jeff Hanneman, you'll be missed.
