Marine grade speakers...

Has anyone ever thought of putting marine grade speakers in their truck?

I'm considering it for the front door speakers. I've taken in water (or shall I say wooder- for those who want to make fun of me) in the X before. Half way up the door speaker to be more specific.

Since I'm installing a new touch screen navi I also wanted to upgrade the speakers throughout.

Any suggestions/concerns?

I did the research and purchasing for my dads jeep who is running all marine speakers. Polk makes a killer speaker, thats what I ended up going with in his CJ7

I'm going to be putting some in because of the tube doors and I will be getting the rectangle style and mounting them on the dash.

Honestly I don't see to much of a difference between marine and auto speakers, as long as you buy speakers that don't have a paper cone you should be fine... I just got all new speakers in my boat and the really don't seem any different then my infinity speakers in both my trucks, there rear lol isn't a price difference in most cases either though..

2x this.

I have a TJ now and I made a similar search. Polks are mostly all marine rated. I've got some buddies who practically do this for a living (but don't) and this is what they recommended me as well. Sound great too!

My dad had some Clarions and a Kicker in his boat. The Clarions were alright, but we've gotten stuck in some pretty heavy rain that did reek havoc on those speakers. Just general corrosion is what you have to look out for. Keep 'em sealed to keep the connections clean.

Gering-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!
Gering-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!
WHAT THE FOX SAY?

Thanks for the info. Looks like I'm going to head towards Polks then.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll take a look at them.

This is why you're my favorite off road vixen. I'm just sayin. This pic always makes me happy in my special place.

/thread jack.

For real, go for the marine speakers. And buy yourself a snorkel and goggles while you're at it.
