Modular lightweight load carrying equipment.
I wanted extra storage and just dont feel the need to cover my windows. In all honesty I may still get them for carrying backpacks and stuff. I wanted extra storage, so i did it. For under 20$(will cost more if you do not have a military surplus store nearby.
what you need:
2" nylon webbing straps(any 2" strap will work)
pan head(large head rounded tops) screws. Short ones, like half inch and somewhat narrow but not narrow to the point of being weak.
Molle pouches, or pouches with alice clips(the old style black clips.)
step one. measure the distance where you want to screw the strap to your vehicle, leaving an inch extra to wrap under the end. This makes the ends of the straps stronger.
Screw it into where ever you are putting it and keep it TIGHT.
wrap the other end's excess over and screw that down. then add extra screws to support the middle as necessary depending on the length of your strapping.
it should look like this.
then simply add pouches!
