Help!

I am on a low budget but want an off-road bumper. I want some protection on the front and at the same time something solid to mount an LED bar on. I don't do any rock climbing as I live in east Texas where we don't have much besides mud and beach, so it doesn't have to be the strongest or highest quality bumper; just something that'll give me a little more protection without busting the bank.

And Im not too keen on getting a grill guard since I know that they can be problematic.

All help is appreciated, thanks!

Yeah, there is RLC, Hefty Fab, Shrockworks, Hardcore Offroad, TAG, P&P.

There might be a few others out there as well.

Really breaks down to what you want to spend, what configuration you want, and how long you want to wait.

Are you looking for Pics? people's experience? links?

People's experience/links. If I could get under 300$ Id be a very happy camper. RCL had a 300-somethin one that I'll have to look at.

Custom fabrication is the way to go from what I have found. Look around on craigslist for metal fab shops that do custom work, etc. I scored a pretty sweet tube bumper with winch plate, front hoop and head light guards for 450.

Best thing is if you can find a guy who knows a guy who does work on the side.

Better yet, spend 300 bucks on tools and build one :)

I would avoind Ironbull if i were to do my front bumper over again. a couple fitment issues and holes not drilled in the right places. as well as you will be required to go buy your mounting hardware (nuts and bolts) on your owne. as well people have had a few issues with Tag with product quality and stuff like that as well.

but I don't think you will really find somehting for under $700 unless you buy used

The problem with the Xterra after market is its pretty small. Jeep people can open a catalog and buy most anything they want for their trucks and bolt it on. Also, because their community is so large, the parts are able to be produced in larger quantities so the price point can be lower. For us, you either accept the two or maybe three vendors who are out there or you get the tools/make a friend and roll your own. The after market for us is getting larger, but it's still pretty small.

Here are the choices in aftermarket front bumper but all of these are out of your price range, I also put them in the order which I would buy them.
Insain Fab
Hardcore off-road
RLC
Shrockwork
ARB
P&P Engineering
Heftyfab
Iron bull

The reason for the higher prices in the Nissan community is not just we are smaller and it is not made in such bulk. Also all the off-road bumpers are made in high quality and require more welding and material then the jeep word. If you look at the jeep world you will find bumpers in our price range down to dirt cheap. Depending on quality and hand craftsmanship.

In your case I would save. A front bumper is not a requirement to go off-roading. If I was you I would get a radiator skid plate. That is the thing you will most likely hit first while going off-roading and very easy to damage. Just get one designed to be used without the bumper from either shrock (long wait time) or hefty. For your LED you can mount a bar in the mouth of the stock bumper I believe it is a 20" that fits in that gap. pretty easy mod and looks good.
