Help with CB antenna instal.

Hey everyone so I received a CB radio for Christmas and bought the cable, antenna, and mount. The radio plugs right into a 12v cigarette lighter. Now here's my question: can I ground my antenna this way? I don't want to drill into the sheet metal of the truck for the mount since our New York winters tend to be heavy and I don't want to increase the chance of anything rusting. I want to install the mount on the back plastic bumper step. Since it's plastic it won't be grounding the antenna at all. So can I run a ground wire from the mount to a ground point on the truck body and instal it this way or would this be a poor way to go about grounding the antenna?

When I was sorting out my CB woes, I tested a few different grounding areas. One of my favorite, because it was clean, was the rear hatch's catch. The catch is held on by two metal torx bolts and the plastic trip provides a nice place to hide wires.

Not sure what area this is. Any pictures?

This is looking from the driver side. The latch is the hook in the middle of the picture. This will not look exactly like yours, but its the same premise.

Awesome thank you! The word catch threw me off a little lol. Mounting the actual bracket on plastic would be okay correct?

If you wheel at all, you'll want a sturdier mount than the plastic. Look up the threads on tail light mounts. I'm mobile right now, so I cant. Basically it's a bracket that mounts behind the tail light.

Not really wheeling too much. More for the beach since I get no cellular service on the beaches out here.
