This is the 124gr Winchester PDX1 +P 9mm out of my new M&P9 full size. Earthen backstop, penetrated the paper target, the plastic that the target was taped to, 3" of air, then another 14" of dirt. That particular round was fired from 10 yards. (All 3 images are the same projectile)

agreed nismo, that's why I've got .40 hydrashok ammo, when I shoot someone, I want the round to stay where I put it.

it's also why I've started responding in the house with my AR instead of my .40, less chance of blowing a round through a bunch of walls if it goes stray....

Never mind been a long day and I read it wrong. :schlaf:

indeed... I've done a lot of looking and while a hydrashok may not blow through someone when I hit them, if I don't, it's guaranteed to go through a couple of walls before it stops, and that, might be in my baby, which, means that's simply not happening.

a 62gr or 69gr 5.56mm round however, we've done some drywall testing and at the thickness of the wall, with equivalent insulation to what's in my interior walls, if it blows into one wall, it'll go through, and 5 out of 10 shots lodged in the next piece of drywall, 4 of the remaining 5 lodged in the skin of the next sheet, and the last one fell flat just beyond the other sheet. 0 out of 10 rounds were dangerous through 2 walls, which means, as long as it isn't shooting down the hall toward the door, kiddo is safe, no matter what.

(that being said, if it makes it to being a hallway issue, there's little to no chance that the intruder would survive that mistake, and there won't be a single gunshot)

That's what I keep loaded in my Walther, but I shoot 90-grain FMJ Winchester at the range because it's significantly cheaper. At typical pistol shot distances, the accuracy difference between the two rounds is minimal, and my range time is more about being comfortable with the pistol than anything else.

That second video is all the demonstration I need to know that the Critical Defense is the right round to have for EDC.

I carry Hornady in my PK380 as well =) but I shoot whatever is cheapest at the range because the gun is not picky at all.

can't wait to get my new IWB holster for it. They sent me a ppk holster instead of a pk380, luckily i'm in flight school with the owner and was in ROTC with his brother so after some laughs his brother is shipping me the correct holster and throwing in some leather belt loops as an alternate for the metal clips.

Sub 500 serial number on a 1911, if authentic(I can't find any info on numbers followed by an A), means it left the Colt factory in 1912. Don't sell it. Unless you sell it to me. ;)

Best way to date is to look for an inspector's mark under the slide stop. Chances are, if it is that old, it's been rebuilt by some Army armorer somewhere along the way, so the slide may not be original to that frame, but if they are both originally paired together and that old, you have the closest thing to a priceless 1911 there is.

So long as the numbers match, yessir. Have you ever taken it apart? If not, let a gunsmith take a look at it for you.

ok, so it doesn't have the stamp on the left side release, it has a P on top just north of the slides, i dated it and it said 1914ish

"The proof was absent to about 1,060,000 (ref Charles Clawson). From about 1060100 to 1082000, the P proof was applied at the left edge of the slide and on the frame. From about 1082000 to the end of production the P was placed centered in front of the rear sight and on the frame. See example below SN range 105xxxx. On the EXP US&S pistols the ones that I have observed have a P on the the slide but not receiver. There is no Inspectors cartouche on the ESP marked pistols."

Judging by the grip safety, hammer, mag release and grip, you have a WWII era 1911A1 made by Ithaca. Not a gold mine, but still quite valuable.

I'm not sure what the 296A is but I don't think it is the serial. Does it have numbers on the rear of the slide, under the firing pin retainer plate? If you don't feel like disassembling it tonight, I understand. If you care to take a look, tonight or whenever, it will look like this:

Haven't shot it yet, but maybe next weekend, if I get a moment. Came with 200 rounds of FMJ plinkers.

your call on that one, I like the way XD's shoot, but, I loathe the feel and size of the XDS, I don't like any subcompact I've ever shot for that matter....

I have a XDs 9mm....love love love it! It does have a break in period though. At 20 yds it was all over the place. After about 250 rnds the groups tightened up and now has a 1" group. I also replaced the red fiber optic sight with the green. With 500 rnds through it I've only had 1 mis-fire but i think that was due to the ammo. I also had to send it back due to the recall but I have it back now.
